Just to correct the Author regarding calling the Z30 "slow". That is not a correct statement. Far from correct, the Z30 is at this point the BEST smartphone in the industry. And user reviews will prove this basic Fact.

The Z30 is also FASTER in Performance than anything out to date. BB10 does not require Battery Draining High End Spec's. Its the most efficient mobile OS on the planet.

But unfortunately, the so called "Android" players have lost "Innovation" and now rely on Hardware SPECS just to differentiate each other.

I am all for high end specs' so long as they are being utilized fully and efficiently. Running BB10 with such specs resolved this issue simply because it's the only mobile OS superior in Multi-tasking etc., Running Android or iOS is a waist of high specs.

I'm an Industry Insider, and must comment on miss-information, in this case your Z30 comment.

Regarding this so called Flagship BB10 device, my sources have been floating around "64-Bit Octa-Core, Quad-Graphics, 4GB 5.2"HD 1080p, 16MP rear/8MP front Camera etc., with unique graphics features that will be available for this device only. Hardware specs alone in my estimation, will gain BBRY at least a 1 year lead.

But this won't just be a plain old 5.2" phone, Oh NO, not at all. This Timbit of info is sealed away for now. I promised my sources not to say a word on it, except for one word, it's WOW

if BlackBerry comes out with a phone like this and leverages the FOXCONN deal to achieve a sweet price point despite the high end spec, BlackBerry will shoot straight back to 3rd position!!!!

...this type of flagship will sell tons, the Jakarta will bring the low end of the market and the momentum will carry over to the mid-range products lined up for release.

Here is another link pertaining to the 64-Bit BlackBerry high end Smart Phone that is said to be available sometime in Sept-Oct 2014.

BlackBerry 64-bit octa-core phone coming this September not 2015, says source

    Rumoured Spec's
    Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8994 @ 2.5GHz per Core
    64-bit Octa-Core (100% Sure)
    OpenGL 3
    4GB Memory
    5.2" screen at 1080 x 1920 etc.,
    --------------
The original Z50 developed and designed by the previous Management has been Re-Vamped because it originally called for a 3GB Memory and a Quad-Core CPU @ 2.3GHz. If BlackBerry wants to WOW the people and wants to attract Android/iOS users to BB10, John Chen will need to super charge the specs, such as the specs I've listed above.

All these specs are great but I hope they make the phone with a big battery like the z30 or bigger that last s any where to a full day or two.

The sad truth is, they probably need specs like these to get more carriers to bite on offering their devices, even though the devices with lesser hardware hold their own in the market.

I hate it when they say "will steal/take/entice android and iPhone users". Hasn't happened every other time they supposedly had an iPhone killer and probably won't happen with this phone either unless the masses can have their favorite apps. Even then it's a tough road.

Will have to see what the beast ends up like but I just got a 30 so it won't be for me.

These specs seem on par with net books.

Not sure if we need such power on a smartphone... what apps in mobile environment would need or use this power?? Unless a big surprise is being hatched in BlackBerry land, I am skeptical... !

They need the specs to be nothing less than the competition so that they can't be used as an easy "excuse" not to take a look at BB10.

You need to select one of two guys to be your helper, but you can't interact with them until you have made the selection. You can see their physical specs (weight, height, bench press, 40-yard). One of them is slightly bigger and can run faster... most people would select him, never even knowing that the smaller guy is a master electrician and a skilled carpenter.

Obviously in this case, for people that want to find out about BB10 they can.... but the honest truth is that most don't even bother to get past the sticker at the store.

Depending on what you are doing it might be. For me the z30 has enough to do a lot of advanced multitasking, but more wouldn't hurt.

The sad reality is that whether it's physically necessary doesn't matter, it's all about the perception and the marketing. Specs sell phones, so spec it out! Sell it for the same price as the note3, sell it for 749$ but at that price it better have the best specs on the market!

The z30 is probably spec wise a device that should sell for 499+549$ but I think that this phone competes on par if not superior to devices in the 699$ category.

I'd buy that phone in a heart beat.

I also agree that a phone with those specs will bring a lot of users back to BlackBerry. It will really show that BlackBerry can still compete with the big boys.

The Z30 would have done well in the $499 category IF they would have only given it a proper HD screen. It's painful because that's literally the one thing that most prospective buyers can judge without any real technical knowledge or real hands-on comparison. Chalk that up to yet another terrible decision made by BlackBerry.

I was thinking that as well. If they can throw better HW at the android player then hopefully that will resolve most of the lag issues that some folks are reporting.
