Default What a stupid Policy Rogers has Made

Wtf i am so pissed off at rogers right now i just might cancel my three contracts with them. I been a customer for over 12yrs now and never had any serious issues.

The stupid policy now is if you have a data plan and want to go to a non-data plan you have to pay the subsidy price of the phone you have, Wtf i said to that it used to be 100.00 fee, not since jan 2012 the new policy is stupid.

I said if the customer is still wanting a contract still and not canceling why the should they be made to pay out the subsidy, if i did that i would just cancel the contract and want my Iphone 4 unlocked by ya as it would not be under contract anymore.

Like wtf stupid arse made that policy BS should be crapped on.

That pisses me righ off, so to save 15.00 a month i have to pay 500.00 subsidy what a crock crapola.

Well i called back and talked to retentions and it was explained again to me and i was still pissed about it, but i have to wait at least 4-6 months before i can drop the data lower as even then if i wanted to get rid of the data plan. I still have to pay the subsidy of the phone, man that still sucks as the new policy is horrible i said and if i pay it off then i would cancel the account and take the phone elsewhere and want it unlocked in order to do so.

I did manage to get 2 months free from retentions due to i was told i would after my first 2 payments, but instead its now my first 2 payments is credited to account.

I have 3 active accounts with rogers now and i never ever had an issue with them, but again this new policy is horrible. I may in a few months pay this one account off and hook it up elsewhere due to this policy, unless it changes in a month or so.

No point of paying it off unless i go elsewhere is all i say.

Do you have a question or just wanting to let everyone know that the policy changed and that it does not meet your approval.

I paid a penalty to leave Rogers, and I'm glad I did.

I assume it is because the phones are "subsidized" because with data the monthly fee is minimum of around $55. Go below that, and Rogers won't make enough money off you to pay for the phone.

I am on Rogers too, got my Torch 9810 for $0.01, essentially "free" on contract. But ONLY because my plan had to be about $55 or more per month.

In the end, we all pay for the phone. It is just a hidden cost, wrapped up inside your fees. That is why there is a contract period. Rogers calculates that over a period of 3 years, at a plan rate of $55 or more per month, you would have paid enough to them to cover the cost of the phone.

    Let's do the math:

    3 years = 36 months

Assume $10 of your monthly bill is going to pay for the phone itself. That's 10x36 = $360 over span of 3 years.

So basically in my $55 plan, a full $10 is paying for the phone because it was "free" for me, and the $45 is going to Rogers services.

If Rogers changes your plan to a cheaper one with no data, OR if you shorten or cancel the 3 year contract, they will not be able to recover enough money from you to pay for the phone. That is why there is an early cancellation fee, and why they force you into a plan with data which will be no less than $55 a month (before tax).

    Does that make sense?

Yeah it makes sense and my plan on that account os 50.00 plus tax and the data is 200mb.

I wanted to drop the data cause i wanted to setup my kid with it, but with no data.

Now even though ot makes sense what your saying, but if they allowed the change to the 42.00 no data plan they will be getting their monies worth in the end.

They won't do that unless i pay the subsidy off even of its 4-6 months down the road.

They charge enough as is don't ya think?
To lose 3.00 a month for them is pennies to them.

Rogers is so expensive. My my contract is up in a couple weeks (thank god!) and I'm going with Koodo, cause you just can't beat 1gb of data with all the other goodies included and no roaming for $50. Not in Canada, anyway.

Well you can go with Koodo, but I'm staying with Rogers, some of my friends have Koodo, and they don't get any bars when I have full in some places. Not to mention one time I sent him a text and he didn't get it for hours! He had full reception the whole time, Koodo just delayed it.

Koodo is a by-product of Telus, meaning Telus Owns Koodo's.

I love rogers like i noted i have never had an issue with rogers at all for billing or services, except for this new policy, but oh well can't do nothing about it, but i made my displeasure to it to them and as well here for others to be warned about the new policy.

Now as for service your going to get some issues in service locations no matter what carrier your with, if the signal is faded in that area for one carrier and not another, does not mean the carrier is better that has a signal there. It means under the non-monopoly agreements carriera can't dominate all areas, but can have limited coverage in certain areas and stronger in others.

I not leaving rogers yet cause of this stupid new policy, i will just remmeber never to do this again. I for one will from now on by my phones right out from Apple and not from any carrier.

I suggest others do the same.

Sometimes I hear that about Koodo, but I will try them out anyway. It would be dumb not to. Plus, I can leave anytime . If all goes well, it would be perfect to hold me off until BB10 comes out.
