Smile Using Rogers Blackberry 8900 Phone with Fido SIM card

I have an old Rogers 8900 Blackberry device that I've unlocked and am now using my Fido SIM Card. The Rogers device runs but it has two problems.

1. It won't go into 3G and only registers on the "edge" network?
2. When I try to setup my email it says "I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server. It says this even though I've run "loader.exe /resettofactory" by following the instructions on www dot blackberry dot com Knowledge base item KB14202

Can anyone help me with this?

I used the Fido SIM card with an iPhone before. It worked on 3G just fine.

Luke

8900 does not have 3G. EDGE only device.
BES, i don't have experience with, but to set up email just run the email set up wizard?

My advice to you, from my experience using a 8900 unlocked with a Fido sim is to go to Mobile Network Options and change Connection preference to Mobile Network Only. This will save you money and lots of headache from fido billing you extra data charges. It seems to only be a problem with the 8900.

If you don't believe me, then just remember what I told you and when you see these high extra data charges on your monthly bill, you know what to do

You need to have a BLACKBERRY Data Plan in order to get the Personal Email Setup option.

Call the carrier and have them change/add the proper data plan.

Yes it requires a BIS data plan for the email and bbm to be active.
