Default Unexplained International Text Messages

I realize this isn't necessarily a customer support forum but I am unsure where else I can find an answer to my question. I recently received my bill from Rogers and it seemed to be much larger than I had anticipated. When I called in the customer service Rep found and unexplained charge for $100 cancellation as well as over $100 in unexplained texts to the US ( I live in Canada). The cancellation charge was removed but I have had a ridiculously difficult time trying to get any information on these text messages. After spending more the 2 hours on the phone and having passed around the call center from rep to rep like I was a hot potato I was able to piece together some information. All of the texts are to one number, there were over 450 texts sent and an unknown number received. There is no record of this on the phone and Rogers refuses to send me a list of the texts or tell me when any of them were sent, received or their content. I am beyond frustrated having spent over 2 hours of my day on the phone without any results and this is the second month in a row that I have had to call and fix my bill or services. If you have any insight on where the texts could be coming from or how I could go about getting the information required it would be greatly appreciated. Similar stories and their results would be great too!

Some more info


Phone is a BB 9810

There have been no apps added to this phone.

The number is from Salt Lake City, Utah and I don't know anyone there or even have any numbers in the US for that matter.

Still no solution. I have been on the phone with customer support for more than six hours over the last couple nights. There "solution" didn't work and calls drop when "transferring" to another department. Why oh why did I sign another contract??

I'm not sure if your texts are something similar that happened with my daughter last Christmas. Was close to $300 charge.

A friend was texting from an iPod touch. Through a texting program app. Except the number that the iPod touch was given (I think they assign numbers although I could be wrong there) was considered a Michigan area code. Although she was only texting across town. Huge bill. Rogers refused to reverse the charges. Even when we supplied the number that was being used (it wasn't even a full 10 digit number). And to even get Rogers to tell me the number the texts were coming from, was like trying to pull teeth. But I kept my cool, was very kind to the guy on the other end, and was close to begging.

Lesson learned here: when my sons got cell phones, they spend an extra $5 a month for North American texting. So many kids text with their touches today and neither son can afford a $300 phone bill vs $30.
