Yeah, Rogers trying to make more money.

A couple of weeks ago they raised the HUP conditions to 30 months, then after a whole lot of belly aching from customers, they dropped it back to 24 months.

I think they're just trying to increase their bottom line.

Is that really a legit reason for them to raise the price on the Torch?

Knowing Rogers in the past. Being greedy and since 9780 is a non-touch device they will argue you need to pay more for a device with more functionality. Therefore bumping the price upto 229.95. Thats why I left Rogers in the past but in the end no carrier in Canada is ideal.

When the torch was originally announced the price increase was mentioned. It wasn't a suprise increase.

No its because when the holidays come, they drop it to 199.99 and tell u its on "sale". But thankfully the third party stores like best buy and futureshop, act. sell it for the right price. I got mine for 149.99.

Yeah, the state of wireless/cell phones in Canada is quite sad. The Bell/Telus network is way better than Rogers' (from my experience) but not much difference in their attitudes/customer support, or lack thereof.

I always buy my contact phones from 3rd party stores like Best buy where I got mine for $149.99 + a $150 bestbuy gift card. You may find better deals outside of the carrier outlet stores 75% of the time.
