Rogers "worry free" data usage policy= Awesome!!
So it seems that with the introduction of the new data plans in October, Rogers had also implemented some features that allow you to know when you have reached your allocated data bucket and also a hard cap of $100 if you go over your data bucket.
This is awesome. I have the 6Gig data plan and I tether alot because I am always on the road. I was always a little uneasy about tethering even though I have the 6gb plan because a computer can suck up gigabytes really fast. Now it seems that I don't need to worry about it any more.
Here is a excerpt from their site:
Rogers gives you “worry free” data! Rogers helps you control data costs in 4 ways:
1. Text messages that alert you when you have used 80% and 100% of your data bucket.
2. Overage rates at only 3 cents per MB if you do go out of bucket for plans $25 and up –so going 100MB over your data bucket only costs $3!
3. 3 months of “Unlimited Email & Browsing” when you sign up for a data plan. This gives you 3 full months to monitor your usage and make sure that you are on the right plan to get the best value.
4. “Mobile Internet Cost Protection”. For the rare situations when people use more than their bucket of data they can still rest easy knowing they will never be charged more than $100 a month in data charges thanks to Rogers Mobile Internet Cost Protection*.

Now only if only wireless data roaming charges can be reduced, I'd be a very happy camper. - 10-14-2008, 10:47 PM #2

Wow...good to know! Now I won't worry about tethering so much...although I have to admit I don't really worry about it as it is.
