Default Rogers phone in the US

I have a Rogers phone plan. Im going to the US. Is there a certian way I should set up my phone? As far as data, roaming, text, etc.? Also if Im in the US can I connect VIA Wifi? Does that make everything I do when connected to Wifi free? I appreciate the help. Thanks!

If you call Rogers, they have some kind of package that gives you data when you are down there and its good for one month, at least it was when I got it a year ago. I think the cost was about $35. As for the wifi, im pretty sure its free but cant say for sure. Hope that helps.

Nope. No need to set up anything. However, you might be charged through the roof. What I recommend is you check out some US plans from Rogers for frequent travelers. Or you can get a new sim and prepaid plan with TMo or ATT while your down there so the cost wouldn't be so heavy. Just make sure you call Rogers CS and tell them about your situation so they can help you with unlocking your phone no charge so you can use it with US sims. Hope this helps.

Rogers has a US travel plan
http://www.rogers.com/web/content/ad...lwithyourphone

$10/Month + Fees

I've used it a few times, Bell has something very similar

as for Wifi, it your phone is transmitting data via Wifi Yes it is free.
IF you are just using BBM and email 2MB a day is a generous estimate of Data usage.

If your just gonna do the above ^ don't even worry its $0.006/kB yes thats correct 0.6 cents per kb. If you just bbm and have TEXT ONLY emails then 2 MB is fair an the data add on is not worth it because 6$/MB x 2 = 12 or 12 for the Data Plan, but if you wanna tweet, have fb and what not, might as well add it on.

There always is the option (if you do choose) to turn your data services off completely, under the Network Connections setting. Only standard phone usage would work (phone, SMS, MMS, etc.)

I'm only going to the states for a week in June and most of the time I'll be using the free wifi at our hotel but I'd like to be able to send instant picture updates/locations to facebook/twitter while I'm out and about, suggestions.

For 1 Week, and minimal use I'd purchase the 10MB for $30 package.

unfortunately the STUPID rogers website doesn't let me direct link you to the page
