Question Rogers BIS website not recognizing new device

Just switched from a 9700 to the 9900 and when I go to the Rogers BIS website from a computer and click the "detect a new device" button, it says no new device is detected. Any ideas?

Your best bet is to call in. Depending on how you did the swap sometimes the network has no idea you've swapped devices, so the "Detect a new device" fails, a lot.

Sadly, there is no direct line for BlackBerry support anymore. So just give them a call at 1-888-ROGERS1 and they'll have to manually do the swap.

from a computer? how would it detect your device from your computer? go to the set-up option on your BB and set up your email from there it auto changes your device. or go to the bis on your BB

I already did this, I get email and everything I just want my BIS account online to say which device im using. It's supposed to be able to detect when you swap your sim card into a new device...

OS7 doesn't have the option for users to log into the BIS website.

on bis admin (I work for bb tech) a user with os7 has a username as "blackberry I.D." and where we would make a password it explains os7 users can no longer access the web site from pc

This is incorrect. Of course you can access BIS from a PC. I say that not as an employee, but I personally have a BlackBerry 9900 on every Canadian carrier and they are ALL configured via their respective BIS portals.

That ceased sometime around last year for new customers. If you already created a BIS account, then you're still okay.

My account can be accessed through BIS (created in 2008). One family member got a BlackBerry last year; another one just yesterday (my old one). Each of them had to be configured via the setup icon on their device.

basically... if you have a BIS username and password your good to go BUT if you are setting up new with an OS7 device you will not have access to the BIS website.

work around:
- if you have an older blackberry put your simcard in it and call rogers tech to set up a bis username/password for you. (they may have to delete your blackberry ID bis)
- after that log into the bis websiteand switch devices.
