Default Is it Rogers ? or the BB ?

My old phone with Bell would get ZERO reception when i would go for a hike or off-roading on a logging road.

Now ? my new 9810 works for miles into a logging road. Awesome.

Would it be the phone ? Rogers ? or both ?

I can only assume your old Bell phone was a CDMA model, they left that network behind in 2008 to make their HSPA+ network in 2009.

It could be that you have a new device on their larger networks. I would see if a friend has a Bell phone on the HSPA+ network and try the same thing.

I would actually suspect that your old Bell phone was in fact a Bell HSPA+ phone and Telus has yet to build towers to cover your less populous area, where as Rogers Had to to compete back when CDMA was the dominate technology for Bell and Telus.

My Bell CDMA phone had coverage far extending that of my Rogers GSM, and my Rogers GSM exceeds my Bell GSM, the CDMA reach is much further for a single tower than GSM is, but Bell and Telus are slow to catch up on GSM towers
