Hi! I just came across your post after trying to do some research about travelling to the philippines.

I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to your question but I was wondering if you could shed some light on this subject for me.

I'm in Canada with Telus and I have my blackberry unlocked. Can I just go buy a Globe pre paid sim for Blackberry and use my phone in the Philippines ?? I know i'll be able to use it as a phone, but will I be able to use the internet and bbm??

Any help or advice you could share would be much appreciated,

Thanks

Deterence

If you are using a different sim card in the phone while outside Canada, then there are no roaming charges. That is very odd... I would definitely speak to Rogers CSR about this.

You will be able to use it with Globe but you will need a data plan that supports BIS... As with Telus you can use an unlocked HSPA blackberry with their Pay & Talk but does not support BIS as of yet.

How much is your monthly plan?
Just because you travel, doesn't mean your bills stop coming in...

Also, when did you remove the sim card? Before you left your city in Canada? Once you cross a border your roaming on another network, you may not have used minutes but push email thru rogers will cost you.
