I tallied up my data usage last night and I'm using about 2900 kb avg.
I'm wondering if I should try getting a data package for less?
I don't need tethering capabilities and I have an ipod to stream videos on. I use twitter, facebook, email and BBM on the phone.
I tried calling twice and speaking to a rep about it but they all want to sell me more stuff or keep me where I am.
Anyone have any insight or advice?
I inquired about the new Blackberry plan for 30 and they told me it was a basic plan for use with the curve, not the torch. Help? | You could certainly try getting a data package for less. I've heard that there is a 150MB data plan for $15 but you will need to discuss that with the folks at retentions, as this plan (like other non-advertised plans) is not offered at the CSR level. You mentioned that you use 2900kb (2.9mb) on average. Assuming that your figure represents daily usage, that would translate to roughly 89MBs of data usage per month, which would still put you well below 150MBs if you chose to get that plan.
If I were you I would call up Rogers again and ask to be put through to the customer retentions department. The retention agents there have more bargaining power to give you what you need. With a little bargaining savvy, tact and politeness, you should be able to get that plan, provided that it is still being offered. And the fact that you have other services bundled with Rogers should make them even more amenable to your request.
Good luck!
