Default Question

I'm on rogers insider EPP as my base plan with 15.00 smartphone value pack and 30.00 for 1 GB of data. After taxes I'm looking at about 75$.

I also have all my other services with rogers as well ( Home phone, internet, cable)

I tallied up my data usage last night and I'm using about 2900 kb avg.

I'm wondering if I should try getting a data package for less?

I don't need tethering capabilities and I have an ipod to stream videos on. I use twitter, facebook, email and BBM on the phone.

I tried calling twice and speaking to a rep about it but they all want to sell me more stuff or keep me where I am.

Anyone have any insight or advice?

I inquired about the new Blackberry plan for 30 and they told me it was a basic plan for use with the curve, not the torch. Help?

You could certainly try getting a data package for less. I've heard that there is a 150MB data plan for $15 but you will need to discuss that with the folks at retentions, as this plan (like other non-advertised plans) is not offered at the CSR level. You mentioned that you use 2900kb (2.9mb) on average. Assuming that your figure represents daily usage, that would translate to roughly 89MBs of data usage per month, which would still put you well below 150MBs if you chose to get that plan.

If I were you I would call up Rogers again and ask to be put through to the customer retentions department. The retention agents there have more bargaining power to give you what you need. With a little bargaining savvy, tact and politeness, you should be able to get that plan, provided that it is still being offered. And the fact that you have other services bundled with Rogers should make them even more amenable to your request.

Good luck!

Hi Apocalypso,

Do you happen to know what that $15 plan is (or the code #?) I've got essentially the same stuff as the OP and don't use that much data (despite my 6gig $30 plan)

Unfortunately I don't, but again, you'd probably do well to phone Rogers and inform them of it and if they don't know or are unable to fulfill your request about changing to that plan, have them transfer you to their retentions department. The people there should know what the code for that plan is.

For the RET $15 data add-on, you only get 50MB if using a BB (you get 150MB for all other phone types).
