Default OS6 for 9700?

Anyone know when Rogers will release the OS6 version for the 9700? Any Rogers reps out there have an answer?

Just put the latest leak available for the 9700. I'm not a rep but I'm on Rogers and have the latest leak. It runs pretty good. Last official build to be posted was for a UK carrier and it was a early leaked version so chances are if Rogers ever releases something it will be an older leaked version anyway. Just my 2 cents.

I read last month that OS6 on the 9700 isn't a great idea because it doesn't leave a lot of space afterwards for apps and other items. Thoughts?

Overall OS6 is an improved OS, and you should have AT LEAST 80mb free for apps, etc after install, and up to 105mb if shrink.

I definitely recommend the upgrade up to OS6 for the 9700.

How do you shrink the OS? Right now I only have about 40mb after downloading OS6

There is no news on when Rogers will release the official version of OS 6.0 for the 9700. My wild guess is that it will come out around November or December of 2011. The release of OS 5.0 for the 9000 was a year after the 9700 was released. (I'm using the release date of the Torch for my prediction)

Yeah, it's a bit heavier than OS5 was, so shrinking is a good idea in order to give your BB some room to breathe. The latest leak (v6.0.0.448) is pretty good. Still a few quirks about it but it's getting much better.

As for shrinking, cruise the "Leaked / Beta OS" forum for all kinds of info on that. Shrink-A-OS is the most popular one, but BB Boss OS Shrinker is a new player that offers some additional options to shrink more stuff out.

I've currently got 15 3rd party apps installed and have about 87MB free after all is said and done. Which is pretty good.
