MSN Instant Messenger and Tethering
I just recently purchased a BlackBerry, and got the BlackBerry 6GB Promotional plan.
My question is, if I use the Windows Live Messenger application I downloaded from blackberry.com , will that usage come out of my 6GB data? Or will it count as SMS and come out of my SMS bucket or both?
Before the BB I only used my phone for emergency calls, or for a quick call to make plans, most of my actual conversations are via IM, which I never did from my phone, cause I hate typing with standard phones.
And my other question is, I heard Rogers will be discontinuing using the BB as a modem after Dec 31st, does that only apply to people setting up the data plan after Dec 31st? Or will it only be supported until Dec 31st? The tethering isn't a huge issue as I am trying to sell my Laptop. - 07-30-2009, 06:03 PM #2
If you have a BlackBerry data plan, then Windows Live Messenger will work off of that. In your case, it's part of your 6GB package. SMS will only be for SMS (so that includes texts you send/receive from friends, as well as Twitter).
Right now, the whole tethering issue is a bit grey. From what I gather, they won't charge you any additional charges if you subscribe to a data plan with more than 1GB per month.Be Bold. Stay Focused 24-7.
