iPhone on Blackberry plan and then cancel data

Hi there,


Long time Blackberry user but I have caved. I want to get the new iPhone. I spend all my day either at University, the Hospital or at home. Wifi is present at all three locations. Data is not really useful to me. I want to purchase the iPhone for $169 and then cancel the data plan for $100. I also want to change the voice/text package to one that includes the My5. Rogers offers a Blackberry package that is so much more affordable than the iPhone plan. I was wondering if:

1) After purchasing the phone, I can cancel the data plan with no other penalty other than the $100
2) Change the voice plan to one that is made for blackberries. It costs $48/month.

You may want to post this in an iPhone forum. I highly doubt you can get any BlackBerry plans for iPhone though. I know AT&T have a special messaging and data for BB, not sure about voice though.

I have used a borrowed iphone with my SIM on a blackberry family voice and data plan for 3 days and had no issues. Don't know about extended use. I am sure if Rogers somehow finds out you are using an iphone they won't allow you to continue on a BB plan. I had a friend who did this and his wife accidentally called tech support and when Rogers realized he was on a BB family plan using an iphone they forced him to change plans (which costed him about $30 a month more for a similiar plan)

I have used the Blackberry data plan on an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and various Android devices without a problem. Although I'm not sure how BB Social networking plan would work. You should keep in mind that iPhones and Android burn through data much quicker as the data isn't as compressed.
