They're not going bankrupt, they're making cash every quarter as well as they have cash reserves in the bank. You have to be in debt to declare bankruptcy.
They're down right now, no doubt. But their products are really good, especially the OS7 phones.
My personal opinion is that Androids are a fad and people will flock back to BlackBerry soon. Iphones are really cool, but again I feel people will start to want BlackBerry features again very soon. The features I mean are data compression, push email, physical keyboard, and the best security features.
The only "negative" thing I have to say about BlackBerry is that their marketing is lacking. Otherwise my 9900 is everything I could ask for in a phone. I wouldn't trade it for any other device.

A few months ago i bought my BB at a Rogers store. I knew what phone i wanted, plan bla bla bla. The salesman was nice with no problems. Except one. He kept telling me "Please don't call the Rogers Help Line. If you have any issues, come back to the store and i will help you". He said this maybe 5 times. Turns out every time you do call, Rogers will place demerits on the salesman that sold you the phone. The demerits will decrease the amount of commission the salesman gets. |

Ah if only I got a dime for every "I heard from a carrier rep" thread! I would be a VERY rich man.

The call centers have no power over the stores nor do the stores have any power over the call centers. Think of them as two different companies (seems kind of dumb eh lol). Commissions are the same for all employees as per province and there is no such thing as demerits on commissions...
However, that rep that said blackberry was going bankrupt was clearly speaking out of his/her you know what. Store reps are the last people to find out anything. You are more likely to find information about blackberry on this website than a rep is to find out info about blackberry from rogers itself. Store reps are never in the know. That rep should have never made that accusation against rim though, unacceptable.

Investment bankers are the "shareholders" behind the current media propaganda onslaught against RIM. Only investment bankers would cannibalize something profitable and useful for something as elusive as "shareholder value."
RIM is here to say. The banksters are free to self-defenestrate.

The first store i had two people say this. The second store i asked also confirmed.
Do you work for Rogers ? Maybe you could tell me why ex-employes say the same thing. I will go with the girl at the Bell Store. She worked for Rogers, jumped ship and moved to Bell because of the demerit based system.

I do however know that bell commission blows Rogers commission out of the water. Key thing you said too was "ex-employees". Have you talked to current employees?

In what capacity do you work for Rogers? Message board damage control?

Over the last couple years in particular, its been nothing but fixing customer services mistakes. It was not this bad 3 years ago, but it has been progressively been getting worse. Anything you are told from customer service, get a second opinion from another rep just to be safe. I'm just here to help anyone that needs it, its not like i get paid to do it or anything.
Try being the guy that has to continuously tell people, "no thats not how upgrades work, sorry but the call centre told you the wrong thing"... The calls centers are technically not even allowed to tell customers pricing for that exact reason. Only retentions has the authority to do so, yet customer service continues to tell people the wrong info.

I needed a car charger so i popped in and asked as i was at the till. I could not care either way. I'm a tech savvy person and i have no need to call the phone line. Just seems odd to me that i had 3 current workers and 1 ex-worker say this.
Either way, this just adds more fuel to the fire. I can't stand the salesman. |

I suppose it's possible that in your experience it hasn't happened at all, and in the other poster's experience it has. Of course cs doesn't have power over the cc and vice versa, but Rogers has power over both and could easily implement such a policy and keep track of the "infractions." Didn't mean to come across provocatively, but I suppose I might have, lol. If I did, I'm sorry.

Im just very weary of new employees and the things they say. Especially reps from authorized dealers like costco and best buy. Im not saying theyre all wrong, i am going to say that they dont get nearly the same type of training as rogers reps do. Aaaaand ontop of that, rogers reps dont even get the same type of training as it use to be. Its a viscous cycle that produces tremendous amounts of misinformation. It is possible that this could happen, but in my experience, it just doesnt happen. It doesnt even seem as though that would be legal to demerit commissions, HR should be all over that if its happening. Sorry if i came off as provocative as well too, i really didnt mean too.

When it comes to the stores I have found it depends on which store you are relying on. There are two that I routinely pass by. One is a franchise or authorized dealer (perhaps the term is wrong) and one is a company owned store. The company owned store is infinitely better. It shows every time I walk by. The company store is always packed with customers and the dealer is empty. Both locations are in high traffic malls and I have dealt with the individuals in each store and experienced their customer service/knowledge. Needless to say, I only visit the company store now even though it is out of my way and the dealer store is across the street.
