Default I'm sick of my Rogers Torch...what can I do?

So i've been using the torch for a while now, i had a problem with it just dying on me already and had rogers replace it. Now my screen is getting lose and it sounds like something inside the screen is damaged. I'm a bit past 30 days on my contract, but i was a bit past 30 days when i got the replacement. Is there a way i can get rid of this phone and get a different one without paying a load of fees?

I would say if both the phones you've received from Rogers have not worked as might be 'reasonably expected' - in fact, have both been faulty - then 30 days or no, Rogers should be looking to replace the devices with one that you are happy with. I don't see that they've fulfilled their end of a contract - but doubtless, the Rogers EULA would disagree.

Still, I would call Rogers and ask to speak to someone in Retentions on this. Be polite but firm, offering the problem, speaking of your unhappiness with the phone and Rogers and proposing a solution and don't be put off if that CSR says 'No'. Escalate upwards if satisfaction is not achieved.

Being under warranty and exchange period or different.

Go on your local classifieds , kijiji or even the market place here and unload or trade it.

The Torch has a high resell value and will enable you to buy another device out right.

I guess that's my best option. I'm gonna call rogers either tonight or tomorrow and see what I can do, if not I'll sell it a buy a Bold.

they can still replace it for you. If you replace the phone within the 30 day period this mean you get a brand new phone. Outside the 30 day period you will still get replacements but the phone will be a refurb.
I think if you go through a certain number of replacements of the same phone at some point they might offer u another model. I dont know what that number is.

Hmm alright that definitely gives me hope then. I'll call tonight after I'm done work and worked on my pile of essays for a bit and see what I get from them.

It broken and you want to sell it online? Nice. And of course you would be telling the buyer that its broken right?

Anyways Rogers will replace it within 1 year, not 30 days. Call data tech support at 1-866-931-DATA (3282)

UGH! Exactly what I was going to say. I've been on the receiving end of so many "mint" Blackberries that I refuse to deal with Kijiji, and pay full retail price for my phones. (I had no idea lemons tasted so minty!) I'm not even mad that the phones don't work; it's that people cover it up, and that so many people are okay with this! I've sold scuffed or locked BlackBerries on Kijiji before and I make sure the buyer is fully aware and agreeable to the problem.

Almost as irritating as the lowballers End Kijiji rant, and call Rogers. A replacement device will arrive within 3 business days, and at least you'll still have a warrantied phone from your carrier.

Lol then try being a marketer, you will be trained to lie to customers and clients. Anyways this is why I signed up for the Best buy handset pretection program (12.99/month for $500+ phones and $9.99 for $500- phones), if anything happens to your device with the agreement length (I signed up for 3 years same as my contract length) except water damages and screen cracks, I walk out with a brand new device. It also cover the accessories too like headset and charger. Well worth it, way better than buying a new phone everytime it breaks or w.e within the 3 years.

13 * 12 = $156/year
$156 * 3 = $468 for the contract life of your phone....

I really don't see the insurance being worth anything after the first year,
My Bell Blackberry had a $7/ month insurance including water damage, being a boater, I got that on my Tour, and it paid for itself, but on a $700 purchase $7/month on 2 years was worth while.

Imagine having to spend hundreds of dollars on a new/used torch for 3 years. I can imagine that since its a touch screen device and the screen could stop working at anytime. I would choose the insurance of buying a new phone multiple times for 3 years.

^^ you can always look on the classifieds. For such a 'new and awesome' device they're fetching 4-500$ in near-new condition.

call me crazy but i'd buy one of the ones on here in the classifieds before best buy/retailer would get 7$/month from me. It doesn't make sense. Especially since you already pay 100-200$ in-store for the device on the term.

To each his own.

heres what i did for my wifes phone, i called rogers because she broke her phone and she wanted to upgrade anyways, but the phone was only 6 months old and being a rogers customer for 11 years i figured i would call be nice and see if i would get her a torch for a good price. well they didnt want to do anything for me, and i was pissed so i said well either give me a deal or ill cancel, to make this short i waited a week and called back saying i got a job in a area they dont have coverage in and therefore i could get out of my contract free of charge after i get a phone with a provider that does have coverage when they see that i had the number ported to telus. guess who has a new torch now
