Default How to get a new phone?

How do I get rogers to replace my 9780 with a different phone? I have had multiple issues with my 9780. Replaced 3 times already, and this one needs replacing as well. All hardware issues. Rogers just keeps replacing it with another refurbed 9780. After 4 9780's with varying (but very similiar issues) I absolutely regret the purchase of the 9780, and am very close to being pushed away from BB altogether. I am only 5 months into a 3yr contract (regret #2 - major 3G network issues that have gone unfixed since march - just after I bought the phone)

Maybe bad luck, maybe poor QC....I don't know. But I feel it has to be more than a coincidence that I keep getting phones that malfunction.

I don't know what to say here.....do I ask for a Torch, or an iphone 4 or something else? Theres not really much to compare what I thought the 9780 was going to be for me, that I can ask for. Sadly, I am at the point now where I am starting to distrust the quality of the BB. All I know for sure is that I am done with the 9780, whether they swap it for me or I toss it in a drawer and buy a used device I won't use it if I have any choice in the matter. I have a used iphone 3GS that is free to me thanks to a friend upgrading to the iphone4, so short of convincing Rogers to give me something other than a 9780 thats a good quality device, I will be forced to say goodbye to BB

ive had good luck with threatening to leave rogers. just tell em that you want to buy out your contract. the buyout penalty maxes out at something low like $400. i say low because in the grand scheme of things thats only 3-4 months worth of monthly bills. might seem like a lot to fork over all at once but you will easily spend that SOON. when you talk to the rep remind him/her of that fact. that rogers will make much more money by sending you a new model phone and keeping you as a customer than if they let you go. remind them that you can connect an unlocked phone without signing a contract once you do buy out your contract.

if that doesnt work try calling telus or bell. havent done it in years, but in the late 90s i switched carriers three times by calling the competitor and asking them what they were willing to do to get me to switch carriers. now i am a happy rogers company (they really are the worst of 3 evils) but rogers paid to buy me out of telus and gave me a free phone, bell bought me out of rogers and gave me a free phone, and rogers bought me out of bell and gave me a free phone.

if that doesnt work you could always play the economy card. and by that i mean that back 2 or 3 years ago you could call your cable/satellite/home phone/mobile phone/even bank and tell them that times are tough for you right now and could you get a break on the bill. this might not help to get a new phone but it could ease the suffering of paying for something that isnt working as promised.

just remember. throughout all these conversations the reps will most likely be making notes on your account, so use a pen and paper yourself when talking to them. keep your story straight. get their names and extensions if possible. if you run into someone helpful you definitely want to talk to them again. act confident and know your situation. look up on rogers website what the buyout penalty is. go into the conversation with ammunition. it is cheaper for them to give you a new phone than to loose you as a customer.

Your best bet is threatening to leave the altogether, 99% of the time they will do whatever they can to keep you as a customer.

One thing I would like to see from phone companies is being able to actually test drive a phone I know you can play around with it and what not but you can't test it yourself. Because sometimes just playing with the phone may seem nice but when it comes to using it sucks!
