Default Help with Rogers and my Torch

Long story short - I have had multiple issues with my Torch, I have called Rogers several times, tried a new SIM card, and have just reloaded the OS for them for the 4th time.

They don't seem to even be interested in helping me, they just tell me that I need to re-load the OS and it will be ok.

Quick list of my problems:
  • Screen doesn't work sometimes (I can't reproduce this, it just happens randomly - I can only use the physical buttons on the phone. After a battery pull, everything is ok)
  • Intermittent charging issues, various chargers. Most recent time it was plugged in to my car as i was using my torch for the gps, and i was wondering why the screen kept turning off. Later i saw that the battery was almost dead despite it being plugged into a working plug. I unplugged it, and plugged it back in, and it was fine
  • I've had issues with the camera where it won't open.
  • Recently corrupted the media card that was in it
  • I get the hourglass all the time. Just trying to open a picture on my phone to show somebody results in a black screen with the hourglass icon

I've asked Rogers several times if its possible by any means to get a replacement Torch. I like the phone, i just want one that works properly and reliably.

Anybody have any ideas what I can say or do?

I'm seriously considering buying out my contract and going elsewhere. I've been with Rogers for 5+ years with half that time being on a BB data plan. The customer service has always been great until I signed this contract last November.

I'd really appreciate any help...

If you have reflashed the OS serveral times, its definately a hardware issue. Send it out for repair or request a replacement unit. Go into a Rogers Plus store.

it's standard for the agents to sent/ask is you did the os reload and has to be documented (even if you know its not going to fix it)

that being said... the device can lag and delay with something simple as the device/media storage. ex: my torch was lagging and really slow until I swapped in a new media card (old one was close to being full)

**** anywayyy. just call and say you did the reload and swap will be done if it's in warranty

i actually had the screen problem again last night/this morning, so i'm hoping to call them tomorrow about it (since i did the OS reload.

good point about the pictures. But i'd suspect it would be that way for all pics if it was the card right? It has happened a few times, but I've had a couple different cards, so that should rule the card(s) out.

well rogers bb tech is 24/7 so call at any point. for a swap on a device over 30 days it's a $35 swap charge or take the phone into a rogers store that offers repairs (loaner device is a $50 depositand a 9000)

like I said... my torch was lagging in the menu's and the trackpad was as well until I replaced the card with a blank media card (also test by putting the old media card back in)

also make sure you don't have your device memory full... if the device/app memory is used up then thats def going to cause lagging and slow actions on pretty much everything.

after doing a reload I would only load my contacts and try an empty media card just to see how it works for a day or so.

yeah, but i think its for the better if i calm down before i call them. I just read that crap about the $35 replacement fee...

I used the phone for a day or two with out a memory card in it, and i didn't notice any less lagging.

i currently have 222MB free on my phone...i can't see that being an issue.

Again, i've done that...the rogers instructions email tell you to first reload the os, but not re-load any of your data (so you don't have a calendar, contacts, old emails, etc making your phone USELESS) for 24 hours, and then you add your calendar and contacts and use it for 24 hours, and then after that reload everything. I've done this song and dance for rogers too many times now...

Well rogers offers swap unlike any other provider in canada... There is now a $35 processing fee.

The other option is take your phone in to a store that offers repair and your phone gets shipped off to rim for repair free of charge and those store have loaner 9000's for a $50 deposit that you get back when you return the loaner. (I believe it usually takes 2 weeks)

With my current provider (bell) I have no choice but to send my phone away and takes 6 - 8 weeks for repair. No other option

Ok, so I came home and plugged my phone in, backed it up in preparation to go to my closest Rogers Plus store, and then it said there is a device OS upgrade...

Gonna try this and see if it helps any.

My phone was all locked up again this morning...thats always fun when the alarm is going, and I can't turn it off. So i did a battery pull and once it was up and running i had to turn the alarm off then.
