Found Rogers Blackberry Hamilton- Nov 3rd
Hi there,
I am actually not a blackberry user. I found a blackberry 9700 outside a campus building in early Nov. I printed up signs close to where I found it, and I got no replies. My mother suggested I take it to Campus police, which I did and they took my contact info. A month later (i had forgotten about this episode by this time, I received an email from the Campus police asking me to come by. I did so and they said no one had been in to claim it. I couldn't find the SD card, and the chip had been removed when I gave it in so they couldn't do anything about it. They asked me if I wanted it. THe elderly gentleman at the office said if I didn't take it, eventually it would end up in storage somewhere and be destroyed. He suggested I take it. I took it and I told my friends who suggested I give Rogers a call. After 2 hrs on the line, the woman said that they would look into it, but that it wouldn't be easy and it was unlikely successful. I asked her what would happen if they couldn't find anyone for it and she said that probably it would get refurbished and either sold or sent as a display model. I wasn't liking the sound of that. She said that I could keep it and that 'would be OK as well', as by now the old owner would likely have purchased a new phone. So that brings me today. I have this phone, and theoretically I could put my SIM card into this and it would work. I have no data plan though. And I don't really understand this BBM business. It has a PIN registered to it. What can I do to utilize all the features of this phone?
I do feel for the old owner, but I genuinely feel I did more than most would and I am not to interested in pursuing the old owner further.
Any input would be welcome! sorry for the long post.
