An unlocked 3g phone from Telus should work on Rogers.

Unlocking a cellular device that supports GSM sim cards will work on any GSM carrier including rogers.

the 9930 is a cdma only device which will not operate on a gsm carrier such as rogers. They are made especially for networks such as Verizon and Sprint in the US. That being said I believe you're incorrect in stating that Telus will be carrying the 9930, they are carrying the bold 9900 which is gsm so if you plan on buying from telus you have nothing to worry about.
