    Default Data usage

    Hi,

I've narrowed down my decision to a BlackBerry Bold on Rogers. I've gone through all of the plans and found two that would work well for my needs/budget.

    #1: 250 minutes, 500 MB for browsing, unlimited Email+IM+Text ($70/month)
    #2: 250 minutes 500 MB for browsing+Email+IM, unlimited text ($60/month)

Is the extra $10 a month worth the peace of mind of having unlimited Email+IM? I'm not sure how far 500 MB will go since I've never used a BlackBerry before. I have WiFi at home and University but will do some mobile browsing. I email and IM an average amount - nothing crazy.

What do you pros think, haha

EDIT: Also, the second plan isn't branded as a Blackberry plan, just a smartphone plan. Will I still have access to BIS?

A lot of people tend to stay under 500 MB for data use; however, it depends on how people use their BBs. Emails and IM tend to use less data anyhow. Unless you're emailing very huge files and on IMs 24-7, I can't see the need for unlimited email.

That being said you have to have a BlackBerry data plan if you want the fun stuff like BlackBerry Messenger or emails pushed to your Bold.

If that's how Rogers' website is giving it to you, then they are including pushed emails and BBM. In the past, Rogers classified the smartphones value packages separately: There'd be one for the iPhone, another one for the BlackBerry, and another one for the rest of the smartphones.

Since plans can differ from province to province, what province are you getting this plan from?

I'm in Ontario. They have a "BlackBerry Messaging" and a "Smartphone Bundle" which apparently includes Blackberry. It only seems to differentiate between iPhone and all other platforms.
