Default Connect to Rogers BIS via WiFi with US carrier SIM?

My wife and I will be in the US for about month, we both have Rogers Bold 9900s unlocked. We plan to get tmobile or att sims and pre paid text and talk packages. Question is, will we still have access to our Rogers BIS via wifi?

No, as the BIS information is tied to a service provider, plan, and SIM/phone number rather than the phone simply having data access.

When you pop in the new SIM, your phone won't know to talk back to the Rogers BIS. If you wanted to connect back to your Rogers BIS, you'd have to put in the Rogers SIM, turn off the wireless network, then connect via WiFi.

Since you are on Rogers, there is a $10 data roaming option, that will put you into the cheaper data roaming rates. If you turn data roaming off unless you really need it and use wifi when you can, you probably will not use much data.

In regards to the att sim, you might want to just bring an old unlocked phone or one of your 9900s to dedicate to the US sim card. That way your regular cellular number will work on your 9900s in case people from home need to get in touch in an emergency.

One other thing to keep in mind is that, with OS7 phones, when you put a new SIM card in, it will ask you to log into your BlackBerryID. Make sure you have your phone connected via wifi before switching or you will not be able to login and use your phone if the new SIM does not have BIS data on it. In addition, make sure you know your BlackBerryID password, as too many attempts will force a security wipe before you can set it up with a new SIM.
