OK...I have been trying to curb large bills on Rogers. I upgraded from the 4MB plan to the 6GB plan last month but still got stung for a huge bill. What I need (Want) to know is What comes under the BIS on the bill and What comes under DATA on the bill. I got charged $0 for Data but stung huge on the BIS.

I dont use alot of E-Mail traffic but do use alot of data.

Does BB Messenger use BIS or DATA?
    What else would use BIS?

BB messenger is technically BIS I think since it runs through RIM's servers. T-mobile has an email only plan for $9.99/mth and it still allows BB messenger.

I was under the impression that BIS is the same as Data.

The difference lies in BES data vs. BIS data... Are you a part of a BES Server?

Ok lets say this. Data is internet and email, including bbm. BIS is the internet service. You cannot have BIS without first having data. So to answer your question there will not be seperate charges. All of the things I mentioned previously will be billed under data. I believe BES and BIS is what you mean to compare. Was that better or am I missing something?

I am on a BIS NOT A BES. I was Charged two seperate charges one for DATA usage and one for BIS usage. the BIS usage cap is 4Mb and had an overage. My Data is 6Gb cap and was not over. Why 2 charges.

I beleive rogers pro-rates the first month. I switched over from the 4 mb to the 300 mb, and on my first bill they were two sets of charges.

I have been scrutinizing it somewhat and it looks like that is the case. the problemm is I should not have been dinged for a monthly overage if I changed mid month.

They nailed me for 8Meg over for the month on the 4Meg plan but then I only used 25 meg of a 6Gig plan. I am thinking that should be $0 to me.

These guys just make it confusing in the hopes no one will notice.

To the OP... check to be sure you are on the BB data plan... just to be safe... and the data plan would be prorated for the first month as well...
