BES Data pooling
Okay - abit of a confusing idea here but please bare with me on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I currently have a BB on a work BES data plan: BB (BES) Flex Rate Plan and I also have a voiceplan on this account - pretty standard, and paid for by work.
I am up for HUP in the next couple of days and was thinking about getting the 9900 when it comes out; however, the fact that I have two relatively recent phones (Torch and future 9900) made me think I may like to have two seperate phones (one for just work email and messages - data only) and one for voice/data/personal etc.
I have read that my dataplan allows data pooling and therefore have the following idea to ensure I keep my # for voice/SMS but do the above with minimial cost. To keep things straight ... lets assume my current phone has phone number 555-5555 and pin ABCD and new phone has phone number 666-6666 and pin EFGH.
- Add 2nd line to account with BES datapooling - $5 I read is the charge for this with new phone number 6666
- Current phone (ABCD) will be for data only work. New phone EFGH will be for personal email, calls etc.
- Get new sim card from rogers assocaited with line 6666. Put this in phone ABCD. Get old sim card and put it in phone EFGH.
- Go on Rogers BIS website and remove personal email accounts from pin ABCD and add them to pin EFGH.
Since phone ABCD is associated with work BES account and activated, emails should still come to it despite swapping sim cards. Phone calls will however now route to my new phone after the sim swap. And because I removed personal email accounts from BIS website, they will no longer go to ABCD but rather will add them to EFGH.
End result:
Pin ABCD/phone 6666 (which will never be published anywhere or called)... receives work email only and I guess my BBMs since people have this pin until I tell them my new pin.
Pin EFGH/phone 5555 ... receives my phone calls, personal email
Both phones have pooled data.
Does this seem like it will work?
