What on earth is the obsession with unboxing phones? Similarly, with people watching people unbox phones?
I was looking for a review of my new Sony Walkman and the first 4/5 videos were people explaining what the box looks like. Questioning bar codes on the box... Telling me orange is their favourite colour... Explaining that there is a page of the same barcodes inside the box as printed outside...
I just don't get why anyone, anywhere, would want to watch a man open a box with a phone inside. Please enlighten me!

I agree with the OP. I've never understood the fascination with unboxing new
products. With all due respect to CB of course, I just think it's really uninteresting.
This trend baffles me too. If I want to see anything it would be showing how the item works, comparing it to other objects for size reference, or a review of it. Maybe mention if it was packed well or not but unless you're a packaging engineer, who cares beyond that about the packaging? I just want to see the item and so forth.

i watch alot of unboxing videos, i like to see all the stuff inside. Phonedog does unboxing videos where he actually turns the phone on and you get a preview of how the phone ui looks and all that, pretty interesting imo
I've seen his videos for a few Blackberries and my SE, I still can't see the appeal of watching someone open a box slowly. If I want to know what's in a box I'll do some very simple research before I buy it. Failing that, I'll look on any manufacturer's website.
