Today is the 5 year anniversary of the death of one of the best metal guitarists ever. He died a horrible death but will always be remembered as a great guy and an influential guitarist.

I'm headed home now to drink a couple Black Tooth Grins in his honor. CFH!

I had the priviledge of seeing Pantera live twice. Once with Sepultura and once with White Zombie. DB was one bad mofo on guitar. He will be missed.

Arguably the best metal guitarist ever.

I watched my Vulgar Videos last night. If you haven't seen em and your a fan, definitely check them out.

At one of the live shows, Dime throws a 12 or 16 oz dixie cup full of beer to a dude about 30 yards away from the stage... and the guy catches it... and drinks it.

Just plain awesome and totally metal.

    EDIT:

Notice he's playing all these thru a tiny practice amp hanging around his neck in the first part.

Just out of curiosity why did they call him Dimebag? Does it mean what I think it means? Something I used to purchase back in the 80ies?

Honestly I think his original nickname when he was young was Diamond Darrell.

Then he grew up and... to answer your question, yes it means exactly what you think it does.

As far as I know, yes. That, and his nickname was "Diamond" when they were in their glam-metal stages, so he needed to change it...

He was referred as "Diamond" on Cowboys, but changed it to "Dimebag" right before Vulgar was released. At least he didn't go with the one name thing like Rex did. Actually, now that I think about it...Phil Anselmo was the only member of Pantera who used his real full name.

    Here's another amazing DB video...

At least Rex's first name really is Rex... as far as I know.

I know this video has nothing to do with Dime, but I bet he would appreciate it. I stumbled upon this video while looking for DB solos and I had to share it. This guy is amazing on bass...
