My wife was out in the garage digging through old boxes. She has Garage Sale fever. She found a box of mine containing old office stuff and other long forgotten items. In digging through it I found my very first BlackBerry, a tiny (in this day of elephant size smartphones) Curve. This phone has to be at least 9 years old. On a whim I decided to see if the battery would even charge. The result is pictured below:

It's a pity wifi wasn't introduced into phones back then. It would be interesting to see what would happen if it could connect to data. Oh well.
I thought I had only owned two Curves, this makes it three that I have owned.
Yes. That is the back of an iPad it is laying on. The old meets the (somewhat) new.

Funny you mention old Blackberries, I just found my old 8700C. I tried to charge but no go, pulled the back and the battery was swollen. I had the 8310 and what a great phone it was back in the day.

The batteries in my other two Curves are dead. I would love to be able charge those, I guess I could try to find batteries for those. I'm not sure I want to spend the money.
What was very personally sentimental that I did find on the phone was all the text and emails between the wonderful woman who later became my wife and myself. The wall paper seen is a picture she sent to me. Since we lived 2,000 miles apart this Curve was my only method of communication with her. It did its job well.

It really wasn't maintained at all. It was dumped into a box with all sorts of needless cords, office junk, and other miscellaneous stuff, and stored in the garage for 5 years. It endured freezing and sub-freezing temps and the extremes of Summer Missouri heat.
These Curves were built during a time when phones were expected to last, when people dropped their phones and expected the phone to work fine. These were not built to be throw away phones.

Ha. A month or so back I dug out my old 9700 and actually got a pay as you go sim for it to give it a go. Loved being reunited with it but its OS just couldn't compete with modern phones unfortunately and the novelty wore off. Lovely hand set though.

I do wish my other two Curves had working batteries. I'm sure one of the phones have WiFi. I should look it up.

Wow! That is impressive. As I wrote above these phones were built to last and great batteries. Kind of fun playing with these.
