    US Dual Citizenship Guidelines

there does seem to be a "wink & a handshake" between U.S. & Canada, but, like mentioned, expect a more "thorough" evaluation when crossing the border, especially these days,,, the more paperwork you have, the better...

Nope. U.S. accepts dual citizenship unless you wilfully renounce your U.S. Citizenship by filling out an official citizenship renunciation form.

I deal with a lot of immigration issues and have a multi dual citizenship family.

That being said, some U.S. border officials aren't very happy about the rules and hassle people with more than one passport (they don't have legal grounds to do so though).

I believe they accept dual citizenship if you already have it - but I don't think they allow it anymore. My niece was supposed to go to live with her Dad in Texas - but got held up because the US wouldn't allow her to get dual citizenship and the CAS here didn't want to revoke her Canadian citizenship. We were told that the US wouldn't grant dual citizenship anymore.

Well I was Canadian first, then became a naturalized US citizen. I never gave up my Canadian citizenship, so I should be ok, no?

Yup, you're fine. I'm Canadian in the midst of becoming dual (American). No issues. Both countries accept it.

give the Canadian Consulate a call,,, they should clear anything up,,, if you call ours, (U.S.), they'll give you the, "we don't recognize it" canned response...

Really? He put it at center ice and Canada most assuredly beat America in the Finals. Heartbreaking, even though some of my Blackhawks were on the Canadian team. If it's not proper to call the U.S. America, then why are we referred to as Americans? That always puzzled me.
Actually I don't think there were any hawks on team Canada in 2002

Nope. I currently have both passports. Canada still recognizes dual citizenship I believe.
    Canada does.
The US is one of the few countries that doesn't.
