Could be a Z10 - but looks more like a Lumia. Seems to be quite rectangular.

    I don't think that's a Z10, it looks a lot square.

From what I watched, the phone taking the picture belongs to the guy Obama just met. Nothing to do with Obamas' phone whatsoever. Case closed.

It's the ladies Z10. BlackBerry gave Germany a bunch.

Was well documented in most the press.

    Old news too boot.

Using a BlackBerry Z10! The "UnDroid"!

It was the other persons phone but I still think it may have been a Z10 as he seems to touch the screen more towards the middle (about a third of the way) rather rather than the end where some camera's shutters are

That is a z10. Obama isn't allowed to use anything but a BlackBerry. The rest of you working class slaves are not allowed to use BlackBerry. It's a fact .

I suppose you are talking about the picture you saw just before your post. Please look at the OP's video, guy taking pictures of OBAMA..... it's not a Z10, looks a little squarer than the Z

Square like a Z3, but almost impossible it is for so many reasons. Probably a Lumia.

I can assure you he is not smart enough to select BlackBerry on his own; someone in national security forced a BB upon him.

I agree.. why would Obama be taking a picture of this family on HIS phone... it make more sense if it's the other way around.... "We're taking a photo with our family and POTUS"

You can also use the Vol keys to take a picture with the Z10. So much easier than trying to tap the screen, IMO.

They didn't "give" them anything. Germany bought several thousand of them for gov/mil usage. Using an add-on security solution developed by a German company, SecuSmart.

(And if you're talking about the selfie that menshawy posted, that woman is not German, she's the prime minister of Norway.)

Top Level Telecommunications: How secure is the Merkel-Phone?

"...the German federal government ordered 5000 secured BlackBerry devices, costing around 2500,- euro a piece."

With SecuSmart chip, German officials free to talk and type securely on BlackBerry Z10 - Network World

"Such security doesn't come cheap: The German government has agreed to pay A!2,500 (US$3,252) for phones equipped with the chip."

German Chancellor's BlackBerry Likely Withstood NSA Tapping: Vendor

"The German government bought as many as 40,000 of these secure BlackBerry Z10 cell phones in the spring of 2013, including one for Merkel."

BlackBerry Ltd.’s power play: CEO Chen holds talks with White House as Germans follow Merkel to encrypted devices | Financial Post

"The company last year shipped more than 2,000 BlackBerrys with its chip to German authorities, including Chancellor Merkel, and it supplies governments in northern Europe, South America and the Middle East."

I didn't read anything in the title or in the original post or in any of the subsequent posts that it was Obamas phone... Case closed? Who are you?? Seriously. What is happening to this forum. Everyday it feels like I'm more put-off by the responses I read on here, haha
