Netbooks Rock!
Hubby took me to Best Buy tonight to let me pick out my Netbook for my bday present.
I have been interested in them since Verizon started their HP offer, but couldn't be locked into my wireless conection on one laptop only for the next two years. Plus I need to be able to use my aircard with my work laptop, as we live 5 miles outside of town, in the middle of nowhere, with no highspeed access here. :-) So I kept the aircard on it's expired plan, with awesome rates and we paid full price for the netbook.
I chose the new white & silver Toshiba NB205 after looking and reading reviews for weeks. I like the chicklet silver metal looking keyboard. The ASUS line is most popular, and has been around the longest, with a good following, but this one feels really hardy compared to the new Seashell design of the ASUS. (It comes in black, pink and silver, blue and silver and the white and silver.)
Most of the specs are the same across the manufacturer board...160 GB HDD, 1 GB memory (which is getting upgraded to 2 GB), Win XP home, WIFI, etc. This one has bluetooth as well. Startup speed is fast. Stereo speakers leave something to be desired, but I can live with it.
If you have the chance to pick one of these little babies up - I highly recommend it for the size and convienence. All of the laptop comforts in a small, lightweight book. I give them two thumbs up! - 07-11-2009, 05:18 AM #2

I love Netbooks as well but being a Mac user. It was a PITA to use/operate when I tried Toshiba's NB205. After spending over an hour setting it up I couldn't get Wi-Fi to work!!
I hope Apple releases one soon.

Loving it so far...Bembol...I agree - I can't get the wifi to work either. I think it may be my router, though. I've always had trouble with it, since moving last year.
I still use my laptop, but the netbook is great for travel. - 07-15-2009, 01:43 PM #7
