Walking out the front door and going to play with friends, not coming back until dinner time. No planned play dates weeks ahead.

Trick or treating with a pillow case.

Having no school because of snow, and going out to make money shoveling neighbors driveways and making snow angels.

Writing thank you notes when someone gives a gift

    Playing board games

Singing "1000 bottle of beers on the wall" on a road trip

Never getting something taken away when being punished, because we had nothing to be taken away

Sitting down to dinner and talking.

I miss alot of those things. Life was simple and carefree. Kids today have so many concerns and worries that have been created by advancements. They have to grow up so fast and keep up with it all. It is a shame.

For me some of this I still do lol and use

    Pumping the brakes
Starting a flooded car (carburetor) - 4ft flames was a bonus
Not worrying about buying winter tires
    Bumper Jacks
    manual chokes

Hearing the pops and crackles of a record - The Joshua Tree was my fav for that , the intro for "Where the streets have no name" . To this day I still remember the time and place when I heard that for the first time .

Taping music off the radio or in my later years taping it off of Much Music
Watching Much Music or MTV and seeing actual music vids all day
Watching sports when athletes still played for the sport of it not the salary

Camping without power and all the comforts of a modern RV has these days
    nickey nickey 9 doors
    Astro pop's
    Cool toys in cereal

Oh so many more I could add lol . Kids today missed out on so much good stuff when the world was a safer place .

not having to be home till the car lights came on in the summer
    knowing your neighbors
hoping those neighbors fences to play with the neighbor kids
gates between neighbors houses (ignoring those gates to hop the fence)
knowing, respecting the cop that patrolled the neighborhood
    walking to school
being excited for sat. morning cartoons
building bike ramps ( i had to do this for the neighbor kids, and 2 2x4's on top was too high)

Actually knocking on someones door to ask them to come out instead of a week long planning for a "play date".

Having to really work to get a girl to take her clothes off! Lol jk (kinda)
