so long story short im going to tennessee and its 12 hours away from where i am, so its a loooong drive. i have been looking for new music to get for the trip, but id like to hear something else, anyones recommendations. give me your favorite band, a band no one has heard of aside from you...maybe even a band you dont like. just 2 rules

    - their music has to be easily downloadable (itunes, limewire, mediafire, etc)
    - NO POPULAR BANDS!! i dont want to hear anyone say bands like Owl City, Ke$ha, tpain, taylor swift, or anything like that. i want music that i dont plan on hearing on the radio.

The new Alice in Chains - Black Gives Way to Blue is pretty good...more specifically the songs Your Decision, Lesson Learned, Check My Brain...

Filter is a good one too...The Amalgumut and Title of Record are pretty good albums...if you like their sound.

Mother Love Bone is also pretty good...really only one major album in the 90's Pearl Jam Soundgarden era...different kinda sound, but not too bad of an album

Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears album rocks the whole way through too...

Shiny Toy Guns - We Are Pilots...bit more on the electronic side...but a really good album nonetheless.

Then there's always Type O Negative and Slipknot...

just my suggestions...i know everyone has different tastes in music though...

    ...have a safe trip man...

+1 on the new Alice in Chains. I don't like every song but the good ones are worth it.

Also Alice in Chains- Dirt. Very good.

Pink floyd- Wish You Were Here and Dark Side. My perfect road trip music.

    Soundgarden- BadMotorFinger and Superunknown

    Pantera- Cowboys From He77

    Rush- 2112 and Moving Pictures.

Ween- The Mollusk and White Pepper

    Cake- Prolonging the Magic

Creedence Clearwater Revival- Any best of album, there's a bunch

    David Bowie- Best of Bowie

Deltron 3030- Self titled, futuristic nerd rap. Rapper from Gorillaz

Explosions in the Sky- The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place

Queens of the Stone Age- Lullabies To Paralyze

Radiohead- my favorite's OK Computer but they're all great

    The Beatles- Abbey Road

    Yes- Highlights

Sublime- Self titled and 40 oz to Freedom. Really good.

Medeski, Martin and Wood- Last Chance to Dance Trance, sort of modern jazz

    My Morning Jacket- Z

Led Zeppelin- Anything, my favorites are I, II and IV

Galactic- Crazyhorse Mongoose, kinda funky R&B

Gnostic- Engineering the Rule, really heavy progressive metal, lots of time changes, almost jazzy

You already know (just in case)-

Mogwai- especially Come On, Die Young and Zidane: A 21st century portrait.

Isis- In the Absence of Truth.

Porcupine Tree- Fear of a Blank Planet

Ok that's enough. Have a good trip man.

Free Audio Books - Download an audio book in mp3 or iPod format today!

    download some Audiobooks,
it was a 14 hour drive for me to go to University, and every trip we listened to a good Audiobook, I tell you it makes the TIME FLY, but you really need a trip longer then 4 hours to enjoy them fully, otherwise you loose some of the story.

Ever heard Gojira? French "death" metal band (all their songs are in English and they don't sound like "death" metal to me)

Haven't really gotten into them much but what I've heard, I like.

If you're looking for some Blues check out Joe Banamassa (Slow Gin and Blues Deluxe). He is a great guitarist.

Most of anything else I would suggest already has. But one more for Queens of the Stone Age's Lullabies To Paralyze.

You might also check out Black Label Society.

Please let us know what the final tunes look like.

12 hour drive?! Oh, wow. Have fun! lol. Anyway, let's see what I can come up with:

-Spoon - Especially their latest album, Transference. Seriously amazing.

-Brand New - Anything of theirs, especially Deja Entendu and The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me. Two of my favorite albums of theirs. The new one is pretty good, too.

-The Boxer Rebellion - Really into them right now. They're becoming one of my favorite bands. Their new album is great, especially Misplaced, Semi Automatic and Murder Ballad, which was a bonus track.

-The Stills - Anything of theirs, except the second album. Maybe you'll like it, but it's not one of my favorites. Their first and third albums I love. Those I'd definitely recommend. Check out Statue of Sirens off their third album, for sure. Amazing.

-The Graduate - Loved their first album, still waiting on the second! Check out: Anhedonia, Better Company, Doppleganger, Sit & Sink and The City That Reads.

-Phoenix - Especially their third album, It's Never Been Like That. That's probably my favorite one of theirs. Definitely check out Napoleon Says and Sometimes in the Fall off that one.

-Ace Enders - He's just amazing. And the guy's got so many side projects, it's insane! His album as Ace Enders and a Million Different People is just really good. Especially The Only Thing I Have (The Sign), SOS, Emergency and Sweeter Light. His free album, The Secret Wars, is great, too. There's some stuff on there that's not on the other, but I'm not sure where it's still up for download. I've got it if you want it, though.

-Bayside - They're always awesome. Every album is pretty great, though their second and third albums are probably my favorite.

-We Are Scientists - First album is really great, especially Worth the Wait. Probably my favorite song off it.

-The Kooks - Both albums are great, so I'd say check out both, for sure. Oh, and definitely check out Sway off their second album, Konk.

-The Last Shadow Puppets - Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane's, who was in The Rascals, side project. Don't know if you'll like them, but they're pretty good. Check out: The Black Plant, My Mistakes Were Made for You, Meeting Place and Calm Like You.

-Sondre Lerche - Not sure if you'll like his stuff, but he's good. Just getting into more of his older stuff myself.

-The Sunshine Underground - Love 'em. Their second album came out not too long ago, but I still haven't checked it out. Their first album is really great, though. Especially: I Ain't Losing Any Sleep, The Way It Is, Put You In Your Place, Commercial Breakdown and Borders.

That's all I can think of right now. Tried to name some stuff you probably haven't heard as much. I think I have more, but I can't remember right now.
