I had Whatsapp for about 5 years and my time left in purchase always said " lifetime" it always said when I installed "Enjoy whatsapp for life". Now when I stalled on my blackberry z10 it says 5 months left. Anyone have an idea of why this sudden change?

That's a new way to monetize it. If you live in developing countries, that subscription is not there.

It will extend the subscription time as soon as the 'deadline' gets closer. It has happened with me twice - 'three months subscription left', 'two...', etc. Then it extended itself for the next year so nothing to worry about!
