i'm an avid listener of the Stern show, and lately howard has been discussing which phone he would get next. he's been using treos over the years, and was in the market for something new.

he didn't want a blackberry due to the lack of threaded sms, and didn't want an iphone due to not having a physical keyboard.

anyways i guess over the weekend he had scheduled a screening of the palm pre, and was very excited over this phone. he'd pretty much been saying this was the one he was going to get all along.

come to find out, this morning he announced he instead got the bold.

on a sidenote, gary bababooey delabate is also a bold user.

I posted this in another thread started on the subject but might as well post it here as well.

Heres a synopsis from todays show, from Marksfriggin.com

Howard started off the show talking about the opening theme song he and Rob Zombie created for the Private Parts soundtrack. He also said he got a message from Artie but hadn't returned anything. Howard said he was going to text him back but he wasn't able to do it because Artie would need his Blackberry messenger code.

Howard said that he has been very busy with cell phones lately and he's now a Blackberry Bold guy. He said that he spent the whole weekend with this new Bold and told Robin that she has to get one of them. He told Artie to get one as well.

Howard said that the keyboard on the Bold is great. He said that it doesn't slide out. He said that Gary and Jon Hein both have one of these Bolds as well. Artie said he has to go get one today if Howard says he has to.

Howard told Artie he really should get this Bold. Howard said that the phone works faster and has more features than what Artie has.

Howard said the iPhone is great but he doesn't like that keyboard. He said that the Blackberry also has integration with Lotus Notes and the iPhone doesn't. He said that there are some nice things about the iPhone that he liked but he had to go with the Blackberry.

Howard said that he was checking out the Palm Pre but he's now a Blackberry user and now he knows what the ''Crackberry'' means when they say that. He said he was all caught up in it over the weekend.

Howard told Artie that he'll take his phone during the break and set it up so he can get his messenger thing. Artie said that he's sure he has it but he doesn't know much about it. He said he'd figure it out though.

Howard said that Artie has to set up his messenger and told him how to find his pin. He told Artie to send that to him in an e-mail and they'll be able to use that messenger thing together. Howard said that he's like a Blackberry expert now that he spent the whole weekend with his new phone.

Howard said that Artie needs to sit down with him so he can fill him in on what to do. Howard said that it hit him like a ton of bricks when he was thinking about the phones over the weekend. He said the Bold is really fast and he could take a picture of Robin and send it around the world in 3 seconds.

Howard said that he's more of a master on his Blackberry than he is with Chess. Robin said that she thinks she could go to one phone if she got one of these Bold things. Howard told her she should leave now and go get one. Robin said that she's going to do it after work today. She was just waiting for Howard to come up with something.

Fred said that he just has a regular cell phone but he will probably end up with what Howard has. He said that he'll keep that Bold in mind. Artie said that his assistant got a Blackberry when she suggested it and that's why he got the one he did.

Howard took another call from a guy who said that the Blackberry Storm pulls up web pages better than the Bold. Howard said he didn't like the fake keyboard that the Storm has. Howard said that he's now a Blackberry Bold guy and that's it. He said that he's obsessed with the phone and he's dropped everything else in his life.

Howard said that Beth is going nuts because he's so obsessed with the phone. Howard said that Beth was going to get one of the phones too but she's upset that she's going to lose her number. Robin said that she can keep the number. Howard said he heard that it's tough to transfer it.

Howard said that he's obsessed with the phone and he told Robin that she has to get one. Robin said that she's not sure what she's going to do because she has to switch to AT&T even though one of her phones isn't on the service. She has two, one is a back up.

Howard said that Gary doesn't know that much about his phone and he doesn't use it as much as Jon Hein does. Gary said he likes to monitor his messages on his phone but he doesn't want to know every aspect of it like Howard does.

Gary said that he has a Blackberry and a cell phone. He said that he doesn't like the way the Blackberry feels in his hand so he has a cell phone on him to talk on. Gary said that he doesn't carry the Blackberry with him all the time. Howard said that he found out which of his friends had Blackberries and put them on his messenger list. He told Gary he could help him out with that if he got into his phone more.

Howard said last week the Treo people came to his home with a prototype Pre, and he still chose the Bold. To me, that's not blah blah blah, half you people on this forum would be PMing the living s out of Crucial X if he had that prototype Pre.

D hate to bust on old Hoo Hoo here but there's another fine radio show that has been promoting blackberry for a long time now. Using twitter, paltalk, and facebook myspace all that. They just so happen to be on sirius/xm too. I've always wondered why howard didn't push to have an app for mobile what with him being the king and all. O and A with little Jimmy Norton.

The more promotion the better. But Sterns audience is much much much larger the O&A. I'm not saying theres anything wrong with them, but there are no where close to Stern in terms of listenership.

How many fans one show has as compared to the other could be argued all kinds of ways. That's not my intention here. Sure Howard will influence a lot of people to get blackberries. No doubt. I was just stating he isn't the only one on sirius talking blackberry. Granted xm got bought out and now OandA work with sirius.

I agree having a sirius app would be great. Hopefully it would have more than 20 channels like the xm one. Hey who knows....an app for the masses with both howard an OandA. I'm sure they are working on something with pandora , slacker and the others out. It only makes good business sense.
