That depends on the type of movie watcher you are. Some may know every detail about G.I. Joe there ever was and if they use "creative license" and change a few things or leave something out, it might ruin it for the avid fan.
On the other hand, you might be one that grew up with G.I. Joe and will just enjoy the novelty of the movie, the stunts and special effects.
I'm going to see it just for the fun and entertainment value to me, not the critics. I don't expect academy award acting or a solid script. I hope for plenty of over the top special effects and great fight scenes especially with Ray Park playing Snake Eyes.

The movie was awesome!! I loved it and being the geek that I am I will see it again dress as Cobra Commander. Everything was good but the experience would have been better if:
1.- The two fat dudes who apparently are military advisors would shut up I mean playing Call of Duty doesnt mean that you know all the weapons, tactics and codes used in the real life military.
2.-The "oh my god", "oh my lord","jesus have mercy" lady should have shut up no one cares what the bible says about the soldiers(not the place or time).
3.-The couple kissing next to me....dude are u for real Pedro??
If u r a fan of Gi Joe go see it, if you hate Joes but loved "Mission Impossible" go watch it at times it feels like thatI don't have any influences, any heroes, it's just me. - 08-07-2009, 12:56 PM #53

went and saw it on saturday and i have to say (being very skeptical going in) i was pleasantly surprised. now obviously, the movie is super-cheesy and there are some scenes i didnt like but overall, i enjoyed the movie alot. it's pretty much exactly what i expected, only better.
great action and it stayed true to the idea of the original cartoon.
its been said before in the thread- if you like action movies or the original gi joe, you probably will not be disappointed. If you wanna get down let me show you the way,

That was one of the funnest most entertaining movies I have ever seen! I seen it twice now. It feels like riding a roller coaster. I think the movie was cooler than the cartoons ever were..but it seems many purists are hating it because it's not the same story and then other people are hating it because it's just too much fun and it's not Shakespeare.
Definitely better than Transformers 2....didn't have the cool robots like that one..but the editing and the action is much better...you can tell what's going on and who is fighting who and the cool over the top characters and tech is great with lots and lots of explosions and cool ninja fights and vehicles. This movie will make 10 year olds heads explode in ecstasy....and if you can enjoy a movie like that you won't be disappointed. Exceeded all my expectations and I was completely satisfied....maybe the climax wasn't quite as great as the rest of it but the attack on the convoy, the attack on the Pit, and the chase in Paris were mind blowing. i didn't like the chase scene with the accelerator suits because the cgi was ridiculous. cool idea- executed poorly.
and some of the dramatic scenes and flashbacks got on my nerves a little. there obviously has to be some of that as filler but it also could have been done better. If you wanna get down let me show you the way,

I thought that the "Chase through Paris" scene was ok, the accelerator suit was cool(it reminds me of the 12" Sigma Six line) I did not cared about that suit I cared about Snake Eyes that scene was awesome! one thing I did not liked or found weird was right before they(Cobras)were about to "take" the train, Storm Shadow's:"he doesnt give up that easy", or "he doesnt give up" line. I dont know why I felt like that line was weird.
I think that all of the flashbacks were meant for people who didnt really liked or followed the cartoon, to me they were awesome.I don't have any influences, any heroes, it's just me. - 08-11-2009, 01:08 PM #70
Are you guys completely insane? I saw the movie over the weekend after reading the reviews but was still skeptical. The movie was HORRIBLE!
Horrible acting, horrible story, all CG which would be okay had they actually done a good job at it. I mean seriously...the acting was SOOOO BAD.
WTF was that scene w/ Scarlett when she was about to cry..."my father taught me not to lose"...."that was the first fight I've lost since gradeschool" or whatever the **** she said.
My god standards for movies have dropped. Transformers 2 was way better, and I didn't even like it that much. - 08-11-2009, 01:10 PM #71
And they completley fu***d up Cobra Commander w/ that ghey *** mask. Where's his helmet w/ face shield? And the voice over for him was horrible as well. Arrrghhhh.

I took my 19-year-old son to see this over the weekend. The graphics were unbelieveable and the story line was decent...if it were up to me, I would have picked Lee Ermey to play General Hawk instead of Dennis Quaid.
I was glad to see they didn't screw it up like they did with SW The Phantom Menace and make it too childish.
