Man. Forget offensive. Many of the posts in this thread were childish yet kinda humerous. Easily tell the mature from the slaps.

Chillin on the fence here. I see both arguments. Simple solution would be to reference porn as "private images" or "private content" and use a different image. Us adults would easily get the message. Though many of us are comfortable with discussing sex, websites such as this should still keep its decentcy with family/"rated g" content and those that can be percieved as that. (I'll take back, atleast PG).

You should want to always respect your audience, no matter who they are. You never know how many supporters you may lose from a single (what they think is offensive) post.

don't forget as others have mentioned, the site is called Crack..berry, automatically making light of the addiction one has with their blackberry comparing it to a "drug".

that is automatically a PG rating. adult speech is within that range

I'd really like to see numbers on what ages specifically find the post offensive, and discussion about generational gaps leading to the unwillingness to accept change and write off your inexperience to youthful stupidity. which is an ironic representation of the problems that plagued blackberry to begin with.

The only shame is that the site mods haven't commented on this thread. It was moved to this backwater forum in an attempt to make it go quietly away and it likely will.

Was it a triumph for "free speech"? That implies that there was some type of battle here. There wasn't. Free speech was never in question so put your victory speeches away for now. I was free to say how I felt, and people here were free to say their piece in whatever manner they wished. I actually respect the alternative point of view and remain open to convincing, logical and equally respectful replies. There were a few posts that has at least one of those three criteria going for them, so I actually read through those. Anything else gets put in the bit bucket since I actually have a life beyond CrackBerry.

I received a lot of thanks on this thread so clearly there are a number of people who feel the same way that I do. I expected a higher level of decorum around the discussion but it is what it is.
This is CrackBerry.com. It's not the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal. CrackBerry.com is a website that has great information about all things Blackberry. It's also a front for a store that sells accessories that can be bought from many many other websites. As in all advertising, you always want to find an angle. CrackBerry's angle is to be slightly edgy and cool and it works quite well.

The language used in the podcasts has slacked a bit but makes the information that much more entertaining to listen to. The blogs have gotten edgier (with this one blog singled out by you probably the edgiest). I don't hear complaints about the blog post about enabling cursing with the BB10 voice recognition (or Kevin's tweet drawing attention to it - which it did quite effectively). Where's the complaints about the video of the voluptuous stripper talking about BB10 while disrobing? Where's the issues with a girl doing a bathing suit (barely) photo shoot in their Z10 contest? Do you see a pattern here?

The 'offensive' picture was photoshopped with cartoon-like clothing put where it needed to be. Simple black censor bars would have made the pic too edgy for the front page but it was handled in a humorous manner. The blog title was certainly an attention grabber.

Were you offended by the supermodel kissing the geek ad aired in the Super Bowl? How about the extremely sexually suggestive Mercedes ad? Isn't the Super Bowl supposed to be a family-friendly TV event?

BlackBerry is in transition and so is CrackBerry. And it appears to be successful for both. Just sayin'

I think of my self as a pretty relaxed and adventurous guy... That being said there are some places on the internet that even I won't go....

OP: if you think saying the word porn (which in the end of all things is just a word) is worth being concerned over I'd suggest you cruise by 4chan for a spell and learn some perspective... That's where the real filth of the internet is.

Crackberry admins using the word Porn in an article is hardly what I would call insensitive... Especially the hilarious picture that went with it. It was literally to grab the attention of the reader to a subject that is (no offense bla1ze) a little boring...

I'd say its good marketing if anything.

I appreciate that you were offended and you do yourself good by voicing your concerns because you care, but I think its more-so the responsibility of the reader to interpret the article in the intended light. After reading the whole article, I have to say it was informative, and porn had nothing to do with it save the title.

    Just my two cents.

And this thread is a fine example of what happens when someone takes on crusades in a random time and place, based on fundamentalism and not reason.
Repressive, judgemental and dogmatic viewpoints don't do well in areas where the free exchange of ideas is understood and encouraged. Standing for one's ethics and morality if fine, imposing them on complete strangers on the internet leads to a train wreck.
    And much unintended hilarity.
And this is coming from a gingerhead girl! Is everybody listening?

Well, CM "is" slobbering, but, that doesn't answer the question.

Back on topic: To those that keep trying to turn this into a major moral issue of them vs. us or the youngsters vs. the old timers.......same with television when you change the channel to something that you want to view. If you don't like the thread, don't stop by and participate. I do understand someone possibly not liking the title. Point made. Most of us don't it see as an issue. So, when someone post that this site (CrackBerry) is headed down the wrong path of porn, debauchery, and filth......I say, either step on the d8mn bus or back away from the curve when we pull off. Seriously. I make light of it because after stating ones' case, the OP decided to demand an answer. Well, no response is also considered a response. Nothing personal. JMHO. Now, smack it up, flip it up......and rub it down.
