Used Playbook - being sure no has rooted it
So, I just picked up a used PB for about 80 bucks. I got it to use in meetings to read PPTs from my 9900.
However, before I embark on setting it up, I want to be sure the previous owner didn't dingle it, and install spyware or anything like that on it.
How can I be sure? Is a factory reset enough? - 04-26-2012, 11:10 AM #2
If it's on the latest OS or you intend to put the latest OS on it, then you don't have anything to worry about.
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

The latest OS cannot be rooted, so if it's on that, it's not rooted. Even if it is rooted, updating will wipe out root, so if you want to make sure it's not rooted, just update.. (This is just to clarify Bla1ze's post)

If you are worried about anything left behind from the previous owner, do a security wipe, which can be found under settings and security. You will loose all data on the PlayBook, including the demo video.
After the security wipe, it will load the latest OS and you can set it up again with you BlackBerryID. - 04-27-2012, 03:08 AM
