I have just tryed to prevent my pb to update to the newest firmware.
i followed the manual but after reboot i cant find any networks and im already on 22.214.171.12469.
is there anything i can do?

Don't take it at back, it's normal.
ok but what now?
xsacha i believe you now what your talking about but what now?
dont want to try too long or break it so i cant return it.
1 more day trying wont hurt but otherwise the reason i could not activate because of missing wlan is quite questionable or not? ok maybe it was a gift...
they should not care...
but im open for everything xsacha but whats next ?

I personally haven't had that wifi bug but those that do have fixed it. Hopefully they'll post. I thought they just reflashed.
It is quite common though.
who fixed it?
because i would like to sort it out today
any help is welcome.
so risk of it happening again if i get a new one is pretty high!
so either ill fix it or get refund!
i would like to keep it.... so please give me a hint

When PB reboots let it do the update.
Immediately following the completion of the update do "cfp resetqnxosregion"
Remember - Do not Let the PB reboot to the newly installed OS with out doing the cfp resetqnxosregion or you will lose the ability to root."People may not remember exactly what you did or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel." - Maya Angelou

Kretch do you have root? If yes, I am working on getting the latest os and keep root. It is hard for me as I am only amater in it. I am guided by one clever guy from here but I am getting stuck. If you are interestd send pm. Or anyone who has root and wants latest os on pb with root.

First let me say that my 1st playbook was a 16gb purchased late Feb. 2012. I turned it on and followed the directions on the screen and it installed the latest OS at that time that was not rootable.
Since then I have read almost every post on Crackberry and was sorry that I was not able to root my 16gb PB.
A wide open free sailing playbook has been on my mind for 6 months. I have been searching high and low for a steal of a deal on a new playbook that I could root. I'm curious I like to mess around on the computer and I have jailbroken or rooted every device that I have ever owened with the help of the internet.
My search came to an end when I purchased a 64gb playbook for 199.
I did not even turn the new playbook on for almost two days, during that 2 days I studied all the posts and watched all the videos on youtube that were about rooting. I did not want to screw this up. I used dingleberry and loaded .4869 and rebooted, when it restarted I had the dreaded wifi bug. I tried everything but nothing would work, no wifi, I started toget that sinking feeling in my gut. You know the one..... I then had no choice but to do a CFP NUKE -A then I let the playbook install lates OS followed by a cfp resetqnxosregion......
My quest of a rooted playbook was finally achieved.......
Then the let down........... OS .4869 is a piece of crap compared to the newer ones.
I had a Rooted Playbook and most android apps that I wanted still would not work and many newer native apps would not work on the PlayBook also. So.... I loaded 126.96.36.1998.
So after my long story I will help you if I still can because I would love to have a rooted PlayBook running 188.8.131.528."People may not remember exactly what you did or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel." - Maya Angelou

OK I have similar story but my pb 64GB is from UK for 129
Then I am still on 4869 but yea it sucks a lot. The thing is, once you upgraded, you cant root. You would have to be still on 4869 and then we can alter latest os and load it and remain root.

I rooted my fist play book a few days ago after buying a 64gb in uk last weekend.
I too did not have wifi after downgrading to 4869.
What i did was run WIPE in cfp, I realised it was gong to take hours so cclosed cfp and reboot pb and wifi was back.
Now this could have been pure luck or coincidence , I havee no idea , all I know is thats what i did and it work.
It may not work for you and may even brick your pb ad if it does dont blame me.
Problem I have is once 4869 is loaded and its rooted I have no apps, all I have is browser, hulu and a setup iicon.
I got fed up messing about and in the end let it upgrade to 184.108.40.2068 and everything was there.
Anyway managed to downgrade to 4869 and root again but still no apps, any body got any pointers
