LocalBar 2.0
Unfortunately, you will not be able to use localbar 2.0 without proxy server (you can use your BlackBerry smartphone as a proxy).
Check the website for more explanation:

Is there anyway we can use an online proxy? I'm afraid I don't know a huge amount about this sort of thing. I have a proxy setup here: PHProxy - would there be any way for me to make use of that? I'd like to be able to do this anywhere without having to setup a proxy on a local computer.

What do you mean when you say you can use your BlackBerry as a proxy?
You mean just bridging?
Edit: Nevermind, I understand now
And it looks like the .bar can be anywhere on the shared filesystem and localbar will find it! You rock man!
Update 2: Installing from Playbook to PlayBook works great, but using my 9650 isn't working. Got all the info and everything entered right...Last edited by SCrid2000; 03-26-2012 at 04:17 PM.

In theory yes, you should be able to find a proxy server for Android, then you can use localbar to connect using that proxy. I don't have an android device with access point capability to test.
Perhaps you can use proxoid (never tried it, it may work, if not, just try other similar apps).TinyController control your BB from Windows/Mac using USB, WIFI, and Bluetooth. - 03-27-2012, 08:19 AM #12
Tested with Android Phone as proxy and it works like charm and have no problem in installing

I also have try build an proxy app for BlackBerry Playbook and run the proxy server in playbook itself , when I use localbar2 install, it said : "Failure when receiving data from peer" , so it won't works if I use Playbook itself as proxy?Last edited by xDragonZ; 03-27-2012 at 08:29 AM.

Nope, you can't use a proxy on the playbook itself, that's what the original LocalBar did, but RIM blocked that.

Thanks alot for making this work! However a public proxy DOES work, thats how I got mine working. Search free proxy list on google, use HideMyAss's free daily list, select "United States" as the country, type "80, 8080" where it says port, and for speed and connection ONLY select fast.
When you open LocalBar 2.0 just put the entire proxy into the box, it will look something like this "123.11.12.171:8080"Themes for Blackberry PlaybookCreated by c_Weiler
