    I think your two options are the Kingston wi-drive (16G, 32G and a 64G version that hasn't been released yet) and the Seagate GoFlex Satellite (500G). They are wireless hard drives that work with your wi-fi.

    USB-OTG cable and a rooted playbook will hook you up with some storage space.

    If he's buying a new playbook, it'll automatically update as soon as he starts it up and he won't be able to root.
