Can I avoid new Playbook update so I can root?
I just bought a new Playbook and want to root it but I guess they blocked with with the most recent update. My problem is that when turning on the Playbook for the first time they force you to update. Is there anyway to prevent this first update so I can then manually update to a version where I can still root?
I was thinking if I disconnect my wireless router during the middle of the update download it might give me an error but I'm not sure. Anyone know how I can do this? - 12-27-2011, 10:50 AM #2
Not sure about this one. Maybe if you sign up for the beta so your first update would be the beta? Someone else will probably know.

Disconnecting while updating anything increases the possibility of bricking (making unusable) your Playbook. People are working on getting the Playbook to update to 2.0.0.4869 in stead of 1.0.8.6067/6149. You'll be able to downgrade using the Blackberry desktop manager, so go ahead and install .6067. Your only other option for the time being is not doing anything your tablet at all.

Interrupting mid download will not brick your playbook. Turning it off mid install most likely will temp brick it. Just plug into DM and restore and all is well. Devices have backup boot routines to minimize the chance of of it becoming useless and needing to be returned.
