hey everyone, sushistew back after 6-8 months.

i still got root on my playbook and need some info.

how high can i update without losing root?

what is the best method to update without losing root?

i prolly missed lots in the last few months but i do know that rooting is not available on new OS.

thanks for any help or comments trying to help.

You're already on the newest root-friendly OS. No one ever released any custom update method for users with rooted PBs. I think that was going to be in DingleBerry 4.0, but it never got released because xsacha upgraded his PB to 2.0.0.7111 or whatever the first OS was that blocked downgrading, and had no way of getting back so was stuck without root, and therefore couldn't finish creating the custom update procedure. AFAIK, there is no real info about how one would go about maintaining root through an update that is publicly available.

as long at you don't update the coreos and just the rest of the packages you should be fine...
last released dingle has that functionality

Yes, but without updating the coreos most of the other packages won't work.

I'm getting a new Playbook soon and hope to develop an update method which will allow you to keep root on latest OS (Dingleberry 4.0).
This will only work if you are already rooted.

I almost had it before but messed up. I should be able to get it right this time. Hard to test it.

Looks like Shiva3D is crashing when it tries mass_registerCallbacks() for its in-app purchasing. Library incompatible with my hybrid OS (libstdc++.so has changed).
Looks like the change is related to std::string

As far as I know shiva3d still doesn't support in-app purchasing on PlayBook

It's OK. I figured out the error.
I also figured out a way to run these 2.1 apps back on old 4869/6149. Check out the other thread
