Is there a simple database available for the PlayBook?
This is for a forms like app but customizable and searchable. Relational not necessary.
Sear he'd but could not find anything.
Dbase31 is a paid version of Dbase which works well. Dbase is free.
I recommend the paid version. It allows to import and export of files.
This is handy if you have an existing DB file in something like Access, FileMaker, Excell or any other database program. Save the file as CSV. Import the file directly into Dbase which automatically makes a basic column layout.

Are you looking for a DB to write an app on top? If so, sqlite3 is part of the NDK.

I agree about that choice.
The paid version is great.
I imported a huge DB from Filemaker using a CSV file.
dBase31 automatically set up the screens.
Regarding the question about using Excell or true relational databases:
databases allow viewing and changing 'records' containing 'fields'.
This is much different from a spreadsheet 'record'.
Thank you for the helpful replies. Yes to the difference between a spreadsheet and a database. I need what is often called a "flat file database" as opposed to "relational"
Usually more simple.
Will try Dbase31.
I bought Database Forms and it has some nice features as a personal list maker. I don't claim expertise in the database area but it looks to me like this app still needs considerable work. One can have a number of useful fields including voice video and pictures but it is not clear as to whether one can import already made material. The user mode is implemented to allow a new entry but not to show all entries. It is also not clear how you could restrict a user to input to a data base and prevent him from going back and altering the data base or viewing and changing other data bases in the program. Finally I need some help in using the export feature and using the data bases with DocstoGo or Picsel. The help provided with the program could use considerable expansion.
