This issue has been fixed. As far as you "losing your save" we will need a better explanation. If memory serves me, I don't think your life count saves in smw, and are you saving before quitting? (Beating a ghost house)
Give us a very detailed explanation so we can pinpoint a problem if it exists. - 02-15-2012, 10:01 AM #304
so, you're saying when I leave this game it should save it, but, when I have to cycle back to this rom (since it's not the only one in the folder) then I lose my save?

No. YOU need to save your game either using the in game save methods such as completing a Ghost House in Mario or use the save state button. Additionally you must give the app permission to access your shared files. When you come back to the game your save should be there.
If it is not and you are following what we said then we will need full details to help you further. Details such as which bar version do you have installed, what steps from start to finish are you performing. - 02-15-2012, 10:17 AM #306
ok, where's the save state button, cause I can't find that one....
(it did save after the ghost house, but, that's with me dumping all of the other roms out of the folder to my large roms folder that the app doesn't look at)-------------------------------------------------------

2.0 update breaks ROM cycle
Since installing the 2.0 update today, the ROM cycler exits the emulator. I have tried the .6, .7, and .8 versions and the emulator crashes to "desktop" in all versions. Is anybody else encountering this issue?

EDIT: Resolved!
The emulator simply didn't like loading the next ROM in the cycle.
If you encounter this issue, check each ROM individually. If the application crashes on start for a given ROM, find a new one. - 02-21-2012, 06:47 PM #312
We will look into doing some error-checking. Just tested it as well, works good still!

What does that mean, "didn't like the ROM?" Does that mean it fails with ROMs that have checksum errors, or for some other reason? Is this only happening for the first time in 2.0?
Reason I ask is I have several ROM's patched with cheat codes that work just fine in 1.0.8.xxx but have checksum errors because of the patches. I would hate to lose the ability for Super Mario to jump real high when I upgrade to OS 2.0!

Checksum errors are not of an issue. It's corrupted ROMS. (Proof of concept, ttt.smc has a checksum error)

Just want to say again how great this emulator is! Since the first release, I've beaten Super Mario World RPG and am playing Super Mario World now haha.
I agree with others about the multi-key pressing. Some sort of toggle to have a key always be "on" would be nice. I died a lot of times in SMW trying to run and jump holding my PB awkwardly in order to use two fingers to control the run and jump keys.

Thanks to jtokarchuk as always for confirming that the emulator works with OS 2.0. I upgraded last night and all is well!

For those like me whose reflexes are not what they once were, I remapped some Game Genie cheat codes for Super Mario World to patches that you can make in the ROM image with any hex editor, such as Hex Workshop. Some may find these useful:
Byte location 000052D8 -- from CE to AD, to get infinite lives!
Byte location 000059A6 -- from 03 to 01, to get Super Mario to have super-high jumps, so that he's practically flying!
-- OR --
instead of a super-high jump, just have Mario swim everywhere:
Byte location 000074C3 -- from 06 to A9
If those locations don't contain those values you might have a different ROM version. Best to try to get the standard one, or alternatively you can search for the relevant hex strings. The infinite lives patch is at the beginning of a string that begins with CEBE0D10. The super-jump patch is a string that begins with 030410F401. Or the swim-everywhere patch instead, is a string that begins with 06B003048A.
The first byte is the one you change.
The patched game will have a checksum error but works fine. Reminds me of the old days with the SNES ROM cartridge stuck into a Game Genie!!

works great! 1 thing though, quite understandably, the controls are very difficult to use, say, on a game like super mario bros. i pretty much can't run and jump at the same time... do you guys feel the same way?
are there any options for buying a bluetooth controller? i tried looking for a bluetooth snes type controller but i can't find any! - 02-26-2012, 09:37 AM #321

so fill me in. i installed this bad boy and have to say, its amazing, but i have a few Questions.
1. can someone confirm the legality of downloading snes roms. i so far downloaded just super mario all stars, i did this under the assumption downloading roms was probably illegal but i already own this so its fine, much like i do with movies, i often find its quicker and easier to torrent a movie rather than rip my DVD into an AVI. Is this thinking correct?
2. I downloaded an SMC file since thats what the included game was, do other roms work?
3. slightly off topic but related... is there anything like this for running Mega Drive or Gameboy games on PB? i would give my first born son (actually scratch that, im kind of attached to the little guy, ill give the missus up instead) to have Pokemon Red/Blue and Sonic 2 on the PB
Regards

1. It's illegal if you do not own (ie you have the cartridge in your house now) the game. I've owned all the games I am playing at the moment, but unfortunatelly reselled them a lonnnng while ago, so im illegal

2. you can rename .fig to .smc so far I've seen it only support that extension
3. there is, search the board, the is a genesis, nes and GBA/GB emulator
