SNES games and SNES9x
Ok I have read a bunch of posts and threads here on CB. Just to make sure I am going to be doing this correctly...First download the SNES9x emulator and then change it to .bar. Then run the program on my PC. After that find a download site for SNES rom and just drag them over to my PB. Is this correct? Any help or advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

SNES games and SNES9x
Ok got home in front of my PC and tried all the things I read today. I do not get it. I'm using Windows 7 am I missing something? I am lost and just frustrated. I put the SNES emulator on my PC in 5 mins. As for my PB.....YouTube and all I have read are making me look pretty dumb. Any suggestions? I do see on my PB that there is a Game Contoller app. That's a start

I downloaded the rom(games) onto my pc then sideloaded them - 12-12-2012, 05:08 PM

I read that thread/post. I guess i just don't understand what you mean by side load. I have been using a Commodore 64 emulator for 11 years I'm not dumb just not sure how too:
1. Download SNES9x
2.Move ROMS to my PB.
All my friends use I stuff or droid. I have knowone to show me. At some point i will get it. Just seems like a challenge to play Donkey Kong.Sent using my PlayBook or my 9930. - 12-12-2012, 05:28 PM

By no means did I mean to call you dumb or meant anything by it...
If you have the emulator installed on your playbook it will create a folder, you can just drag the ROMS into misc/snes9x-pb/rom/ and should work fine.
Feel free to pm if you need more help..
Here is a link for sideloading apps onto the playbook, which I'm sure youve already looked up, not sure if it works with windows 7

Ok I have the following two files on my PB. 1.bar-descriptor.xml 2.sdl-controls.xml. Is this correct? Which one of the two do I drag the ROMS to? Thanks for any help.

Nope

You need to download DDPB (On your PC) (go HERE )
Run that then put your PB in DEVELOPMENT MODE (It's covered in the DDPB link above) so you can side load the app from DDPB.
You should have downloaded the ".zip" emulator? then just change the extension ".zip" to ".bar"
Once you've done that and your PB is connected to your PC, you should be able to pick that up from DDPB and sideload it onto your Playbook
Now you should have it running on PB you should see the only ROM is a TIC TAC TOE game (ttc.smc)
If all is well you should see a directory structure when plugged into your PC of "E:\misc\snes9x-pb\rom\" that's where you stick the roms

That is the step that I am not grasping. If I have put SNES on my PC how do I "sideload" it to my PB. When I get home later today I am going to delete it from my PB. When I figure out how to"sideload" it I think I will be ok. Can you maybe give me some bullet points as how to do this? I am getting close to having this accomplished. Thanks for your help.

Here's something else you can do. Use the Playbook Sideloader plugin for Google Chrome. It's a breeze to use once you do the fool-proof setup in the link below.
Sideloading made easy with the PlayBook App Manager Browser Plugin | CrackBerry.com
Basically you need to have Google Chrome (broswer) installed on your machine.
From there just install the Extension "PlayBook App Manager" plug in. (here's the link open it in google chrome)
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...pblnikkp?hl=en
Once that's installed just follow the steps to start using the plugin and sideload the emulator.
And I think you should be good from there. Just load up the roms and start replaying the classics.
Hope that helps. - 12-14-2012, 02:27 PM #18
Download the snes9x .zip file to your PC
Change the .zip extension to .bar (do NOT unzip the file)
If you haven't installed ddpb on your PC yet, do so
Go to security under your PBs settings
Go to Development Mode
Enable Development mode (you will have to set a device password)
Run ddpb on your PC
If you know your PBs IP address, you can enter that to sideload wirelessly. If not, plug your PB into your PC
If you ended up plugging your PB in, hit "scan", this will find the address of the USB port you plugged into
Enter your device password to connect to your PB
In ddpb, hit the "add" button
Browse to the .bar you made
Double click
Once added to ddpb, hit install- Hashashin Jay posting from Soundwave, my 64gb Playbook (thanks Crackberry Forum members!)

I don't recommend sites for ROMs because of the quasi-legality, but if you search for them with your preferred search provider I am sure you will find a suitable site with minimal effort, just because one is not working, does not mean other sites won't work for you or that it is hard. Pretty effortless once you know what you are doing
