xsacha seems to be working on it still, he added some blackberry specific stuff to the git 5 days ago. I'd assume the BB10 port will get an update to 0.5 before too long, it's on 0.4 at the moment.
EDIT: It's also possible that it could easily be built by someone else using the stuff in git, but I've never built a native app and from the looks of things, the build script included for blackberry is a SH script i.e. written for use on Linux, which I don't use/have experience with. Also, the current version may not be completely compatible with the PB, so it might not be as straight forward as simply building it.
maybe it's not so simple but just updating the app shouldnt be too hard. and anyone can build it using the source code. Now if xsacha is normal up there, he'll update it and allow us to enjoy
Unless the current source code is broken for the PB. Just because a piece of code compiles for one platform (e.g. Android or Windows), doesn't necessarily mean it will build on another (e.g. Playbook). There may be some fixes required to allow it to compile for PB as well, and that may be why there isn't a BAR posted yet of 0.5.
There were some problems with the website. 0.5 was up when it first came out. But then it disappeared, came back and then had disappeared again!
0.5 and 0.6 are now up on the website.
0.6 now includes a JIT (dynarec) option for making emulation much faster. Note that many games do not work with JIT currently. In my short testing: Puzzle Bobble, Panic Paradyz and Pinball Fantasies are 100% working with JIT.
So I've been trying to figure out how to compile/build (whatever the terminology) code from sourceforge ever since you pointed out nds4droid was on sourceforge any way you could point me to some websites or something that explains how to do that?
(yeah yeah I know I'm trying to jump into water without knowing how to swim, but I'm great at learning things that way)
thanks alot xsacha, I don't know how i could have doubted you ever. Hey wanna be friends?
edit: I tried to download 0.5 and it gave me a 404 error, then I tried, multiple times, to install 0.6 but got an error (failure 881 no debug token found)
Found the website, and am having same issues
I may have misinterpreted your post, but if not, I think you are under the impression that if code is on sourceforge, that means it can be compiled for the Playbook. I'm afraid that's not the case. Sourceforge is just a place where open source code can be posted. To get it to compile for the Playbook, you need to port that source code to the Playbook. This means replacing functions with the playbook equivalents, replacing any libraries used with playbook versions etc. A lot of the time this is not a trivial task, depending on how well the code is written, and if it's been written with the idea of being portable (in which case there may be more of an emphasis on using libraries available for many devices and code that will work anywhere with only minor adjustments). Of course, in some cases porting from one platform to another can be a fairly trivial exercise. In such cases the majority of code is code that will run on any device, and all that really needs to change are the tools used to compile (the "toolchain").
If I have misinterpreted your post, I apologize.
cool info (not to be rude) but can someone make this actually work ehh... xsacha
You mean nds4droid? I'm sure it could be made to work, and if anyone can do xsacha probably can, it's more a question of if he (or someone else) is willing to invest the (probably considerable) time required...
No, I meant ppsspp, I want the files fixed
Ah. Well 0.6 and 0.5 are both available (for BB10/PB) on the ppsspp website's downloads page right now. (If you can't see them, try clearing your browser's cache).
I can see them fine but when trying to download 0.5, it directs me to a webpage that says error 404. I can download 0.6 but when trying to sideload, it said error, debug token missing. so please update the 0.5 link or add the deug token to 0.6
That means that the wrong 0.6 BAR has been uploaded, the debug version (version developer i.e. xsacha uses for testing), instead of the signed "release" version, which will install on any PB because it is signed with developer keys.
EDIT: I tried to sign it, and have managed to get it to install but it crashes instantly when I try to launch it so I must have done something wrong I guess. From what I can tell I have an older version of the NDK than what xsacha used, so I'll try updating it and see if that helps (assuming xsacha doesn't fix it in the time it takes me to do this lol)
EDIT: Nope, no luck :( It seems xsacha used the BB10 NDK to build it, but when I try to do that, the PB will reject the BAR because it requires BB10, which the PB does not have...
so as i thought xsacha just needs to fix the links. hope he does
just to keep this thread alive, I'm making this reply so xsacha updates it. I am leaving for vacation and would really like to entertain myself in the plane. please update
Oh, someone just gave me a message about that debug token being there. Sorry about that.
I just uploaded v0.6.1 now and ensured it is signed this time. Hopefully it will be up on site in a few hours.
In the meantime, here is a direct link to v0.6.1: http://www.mediafire.com/?kjzcmtt08zxwb60 (works for Playbook and BB10)
Here is one built with BB10 NDK: http://www.mediafire.com/?ub6s5re57mw6557
