NewsPile, one of the Google Reader apps available for PlayBook, has been updated to version 1.1.1. Release notes from developer's website:

    - distraction free fullscreen mode w. navigation enhancements (swipe left / right on the bottom-bar or tap the corresponding buttons to switch between articles)
    - support for portrait orientation
    - optional preview thumbnails
    - improved helpscreen
    - several minor bug fixes and enhancements

So right now NewsPile has become much more feature rich Google Reader client than earlier but I still prefer GeeReader more.

Is it useable independently from Google, i. e. by feeding it a list of RSS urls?
Also, will it cache article for later offline reading?

    Thank you!

I'm afraid that no. Regarding your requirements you may check Read It Offline: https://appworld.blackberry.com/webs...17680/?lang=en

    Thank you Akuji_ism!
Indeed I already own Read It Offline, which does correspond to what I want but is a very recent application, so there are still some glitches, some RSS feed that won't be parsed offline etc. Read It Offline is my baseline reader for now, but I must admit there are some RSS feeds that it just does not handle (among other this Crackberry RSS! )
    Thanks again,
