PlayChess is an online Chess Server that has been utilized for the Playbook.
I have worked on, and administrate the server on my servers.

UPDATE April 4, 2012: Email notifications have been added. You can enter your email address when registering (optional), or add it in under preferences.

UPDATE: PlayChess has been approved, and is now for sale on appworld.

Please let me know when this is running - i'll buy it. Any plans for a trial version? I'm always wary of buying apps before trying them.

Now...if you make a texas hold'em poker app where we can play against other real people for fake money - that will bag yoiu a LOT of cash!

Update: PlayChess has been approved for sale on appworld. It is up there now.

Currently, you will have to check the application to see if your opponent has moved. I am working on an email notification system.

Please post any feature requests here and I will work on them for you!

Excellent app! Chess is one of my favourite game and I currently have chess plus app in my iphone, it was really good. I would like to try this playchess app and i wish its going to added in my favourite apps list.. thanks for sharing with us.

I will make it an opt in. So both sides can be happy. And perhaps a popup notification of moves.

I don't think the Playbook has support quite yet for developers to initiate device notifications.

Oh, if its meant that way, then no I don't believe I can. So email will be an option, and while you're in the app it will tell you as well.

UPDATE: Email notifications have been added. You can subscribe to them by entering your email address into the account registration.

For those already registered, there is a field in preferences as well.

I am going to work on a visual aid when you connect to let you know if you have anything to deal with next.

In the next coming days, I will be removing the messages section from the app. I will work on an ingame messaging function.
