Also downloaded neutron yesterday and gave up with frustration at how difficult it is to use it. Most user unfriendly interface I've seen in a long time.
It says its for professionals and it is the best audio player out there, but if people struggle to use it they arent going to get many customers, or referrals.
Lots of us praised stereotube and word of mouth from what i can see on this forum has meant several people downloading it. With neutron i even looked for playlist in the faq's but it wasnt there.
To create playlists, first navigate to a tune you want to add, then press and hold on the tune and and then tap on "Enqueue". Repeat this process untill you've loaded all tunes you want on your playlist (you can also enqueue total albums or all songs by an artist). Then navigate back to the "Queue" tab, press and hold "Queue", and then "export". All the songs in the queue will be saved as a playlist.
Just downloaded StereoTube (on sale). Thanks for "word of mouth" (I LUV CrackBerry). I also have Neutron Player and I found that the Playlist doesn't work. Neutron has had a lot of updates so hopefully this correction is coming soon in a update.
I too found Neutron to be a hard interface to use and also gave up. I couldn't get the playlists to work or get any wma files to play.
I liked the old stereotube, and recently it was updated, and just last night I tried ot out.... but nothing was working in the app... I dunno it may have been my internet connection cause it was running crappy, ill have to give it a go again today see if its functioning now.
does the "downloading the mp3 " part really work? if so, I'm so snaggin all my favs before they revoke that api lol
Does the downloading the mp3 bit work, yes it does,as does the video downloading. I use it to download loads of hd quality videos
The website that stereotube links to works on its own obviously but stereotube makes it really easy. Great app
I have the nuetron player and I really like it because of how it lets you customize the sound. Does anyone here know if it's possible to have the volume control always accessible on the screen with the play/pause control on it without having to push the volume up or down button on top of the PlayBook to bring the volume bar up?
yeah the youtubemp3pro link works but the others failed...its cool tho know I can get me some free classic techno tracks hehe
It isn't a very intuitive UI, but in my opinion the sheer weight of features not found on other players makes it a very worthwhile purchase...
It takes some poking around and playing with it, but you will get the hang of it. To ONLY thing tht irks me is tht when you change the Playbooks orientation from landscape to portariat (and V. V.), the sound "blips" for a millisecond.
Other than that, it's the best player avail at this time. IMO.

I bought Neutron player a few days ago and as appears to be the norm with downloaded apps, you have to be psychic to figure it all out.
I finally realised that with all apps you need to go on Google and ask for user instructions. Even then you may be disappointed. But...if you persevere, you will find hiden away in the myriad features of Neutron MP links to 'net pages that help you understand how to use it.
Of course, app developers don't seem to understand that a big H E L P button on the home page would go a long way to minimising the number of frustrated and angry users, and the consequent BADWILL that results in thousands of LOST SALES.
Nevertheless, just prod, swipe and press, just like I did for hours on end, and sooner or later you will find that Neutron works very well and has lots of features. It even plays .flac files, which the PlayBook native player doesn't seem to do.
I went to the site stereotube sends you to on my phone and what do you know. I paste a Youtube URL and it works.

Just flip the PB to portrait position and all the controls are there. If not, go to the Neutron player controls and unlock the landscape view.
Oops, see above.
Links to the developer web page, with explanations of controls and help forums are in the App's settings menu. I'm a dumma$$ and it was even easy enough for me to find it.
Yes, I did find it, but it is tucked away out of sight, and my point is that users shouldn't have to go searching for a user manual or help forums. A link to it should be right there in front of you when you open the app. There are a lot of potential users such as my sister who don't have the faintest idea how to use even basic functions of a smartphone, let alone apps, for the simple reason that it all seems far too complicated. Fine for anybody with even a glimmer of a techie brain, but if your skills lie elsewhere, being presented with a minimalist app page is somewhat daunting. It's like being given a car stereo head unit and being told that before being able to listen to any music, you have to solve several puzzles before you can even switch it on. This is not the way to sell millions of downloads of your app.
Here here ! And i didnt even see instructions on playlists there anyway
Anywayyyyyyy ive loaded up a few flac tracks to see what the quality is like, and it doesnt play them with stopping every few seconds throughout each song. Does it play flac for everyone else ?
I have only just started using flac files, everything has been wav so far. Today I ripped my CD of the Waterboy's Too Close to Heaven to my PC's hard drive as flac files, using Winamp. I then copied the folder to my Playbook. It plays perfectly on Neutron MP and also on Pacemaker, but the Playbook's native player doesn't seem to recognise flac files.
Something's wrong with their own website today as I get a database connection error. http://www.neutronmp.com/ (also the listing in BB World is missing http://appworld.blackberry.com/webst...28241/?lang=en ) Anyone know what's going on with Neutron?
I upgraded to version 1.68 a few days ago and it is unusable. I want to go back to the version I had prior to this one but can't find a way to do it. I keep hoping a fix will come out since 1.68 really is impossible to use. I'm a (retired) audio engineer and had no major problem using the previous version.
Also did an update a few days ago to 1.68 and though it plays mp3s it does not display properly on the screen or remember settings.... Also noticed that it was pulled from BB World right after I noticed it was not working correctly. Hopefully they are aware of the problem and took it down until they get it fixed.
Just got this from Neutronmp web site:

Hi!
I really apologize for this update Due to typo in the code Neutron does not read resolution of the PlayBook OS correctly. The bug is fixed and hot-fix update is published to BlackBerry World. It usually takes around 3 working days for update to be approved and released to public. The bug appeared due to active work on BB10 and there is difference in how these devices report screen resolution: PlayBook = landscape, BB10 (Z10) = portrait.
It is pithy that BlackBerry World does not offer possibility to rollback to previous version client/developer side ....
Best regards & sorry again,
Dmitry.

Has anyone figured out how to play playlists on Neutron?? I've spent countless hours trying and Googling, to no avail. When I try, it only plays 1 song, not the entire list.
I've never seen software so unbelievably counterintuitive! It's horrible!!
Thanks in advance!
Well, for one thing, Neutron will play playlists created by other programs on the playbook. I've used ES File Explorer's (sideloaded) internal music player to create playlists that work with Neutron. The playlist file created with ES though, must be transferred from the PB's android folder the PB's Music folder, and an .m3u extension must be added to the file. Be warned, however, creating playlists with ES in not exactly intuitive either, but is pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it.
