I'm guessing the app that you refer to is just for managing your queue. If streaming movies worked you'd have heard about it.
I still have yet to get PlayOn to work smoothly. Whenever I do get it to work (I usually get that "stream is null" error) the lag is horrendous.
Make sure your home computer is up and running with the app open and never goes to standby mode.
Once i figured that out I never got the "stream is null" error code.
